Things get unuseual...

When the next major memory occoured, Ash was rather older, he guessed at about his mid 40's. He was blatently irratated because he was once again outside the age limit for normal 'duties' when, once again, Britian said "We need YOU". This time, however, he was considered too old, and couldn't fake his age. So for quite a while, probably about 3 to 4 weeks, he had to be satisfied with reading about events in the papers, and telling 'Dad's Army' that he wasn't that old. Eventually he got depressed, then desperate, hearing the oftern bad news reports, and Patriosm taking effect, he looked for a way to get 'in'. Eventually he did. The new 'Commando' units accepted him mainly because he looked like he might possibably still be up to it, and he had experence. But it was on one condition; If he slowed the unit down at all, he was out immediatly with no objections. It was during this time that he was immencly gratious that he had been spending time experementing and praticing with stones, and he found out that by using certain stones during training, he could effectivly 'cheat'. His comrades noticed this tendincy to carry gems, and while in the 'Regulars' they would be immediatly confescated, in the tipical Commando fastion he was allowed to keep them, and dubbed 'Stony'. As such, every Commando enevitably got a nickname, and this is found in many units. The attitude was compleatly different from the last time he had fought, and after the conflict, many of the Unit was intact. Even so, there were some dounright scrary moments, and nothing was ever easy.
Once this was over, all the Commando's had instant reputations. Some were more unuseual then others, and some caught the attention of the infamous 'Soldures of Fortune'. Somehow Ash was sucked into this job, oftern at the advise of a former unit member. After all, the Money was relitvly good, easy and quick, and quiting was a lot easyer. As to the number of Countires Ash has operated in, Amnesia takes its toll, and the line between one Command and another gets very Blurred. Names such as Palastine, Siam, and Berlin occasionally fly through Ash's mind, though their mening is little to him.
One memory which stands out, however, and that gave him the best timeplace to work with was celebrating his Golden Birthday at the same year NATO was formed, and more importantly to him, that Eire left the Comonwealth. From that precious memory, he was able to begin to age himself. He was quite surprised at the result when he did this, many many years later.
It is right bang in the middle of this blurred and confused time that things really get insane...
