The Purpose of Ezines
For our purposes, a Republican ezine should
keep its readers abreast of what the Republican Party is doing
to merit the support of Republican voters and donors, and to be
the voice of dissent against the prevailing leftward winds of
the liberal media. When the newspapers tell how the Republican
legislature is depriving school children of an education, the
ezine should keep people aware that private schools routinely do
a better job of educating for about half the money. Of course,
you could write letters to the editor saying the same thing, but
having your own ezine gives you a little more control over
content. |
Reaching Your Audience
This all depends on who your audience is. If
you are a general interest ezine, you do all the typical website
promotion stuff: use the URL in your signature when posting on
USENET or sending out email, submitting it to search engines,
paying for mailing lists. But if you are a local interest ezine,
you are not just interested in raw numbers. You want to get
people in your town interested in supporting the party, so
getting dozens of people enthused about your work is more
valuable than getting thousands of browsers around the globe who
stop by and move on.

A Candidate's Diary
"This past year I got involved with the
Republican Party here in Alachua County (FL) after this past
debacle of an election. For the first time, I started paying
attention to local issues, and it was just in time. Our 5
Democratic county commissioners never met a tax they didn't
like, they think they represent tweety birds instead of people,
and they are pretty well known as an anti-business government by
the services that rate localities for that sort of thing."
