Ascent to Mt. Amuyao

And you thought climbing stairs than a mountain is easier? No way! How about doing both? That's mostly the trail from Barlig to the summit of Mt. Amuyao. After climbing a series of wooden stairs for hours, the pot-bellied guys among us can no longer take it. They brought out their stove, boiled a pot of rice and decided to have their dinner right there and then.

We started late after lunch at Barlig. Can we still witness the sunset at the summit? Tough luck! This is a major climb, honey. We trekked through darkness. It's a good thing we had a full moon, merrily shining down on us. As Mai paused to admire its beauty, Marc (the designated sweeper) shouted, "Sa taas mo na tignan 'yan!" ("Look at that at the summit!") Vic (our TL), Naidz, Tonton, Lani (she went ahead of hubby Henry) and I, arrived first around 7:30 in the evening. We hurriedly pitched our tents over a concrete ground beside the shack of the tower's keeper at the summit. Brrrrr. It's so cold. I wish Anne would arrive soon, or I'm cooking this pasta that we're supposed to have for breakfast two days from now in Cambulo. Please, I don't want to starve. She was assigned to bring our chicken/pork dinner.

Congratulations everyone! We all made it to the summit. The rest of the night was uneventful. After dinner, most of us retired to catch up on our sleep, although Mar's group still had socials.
