Artificial Wave Pool in Malaysia?
<--
-->
Yeap! That's right. If you'd haven't already know by now, there's an artificial wave pool in
Malaysia! Where is it you ask? It's in Sunway Lagoon where else?? Duh!
The wave pool that is situated at Sunway Lagoon, the Malaysian's premiere theme park, has the
ability to generate an 8-foot wave every 90 seconds, and it can be programmed to break either
to the left or to the right.
The wave pool was opened for the Sunway Surf School, Malaysia's first learn-to-surf school in
the world's largest wave pool, from the 24th of March until the end of April 1997. Each class
consisted of five lessons and each lesson was one and a half hours long. I was part of the last
batch in the learn-to-surf class. Australian Matt Grainger conducts the classes which are open
to all ages and all levels of ability. He is one of Sydney's most experienced surf coaches. He
and former world top-5 surfer Rob Bain founded the Manly Surf School a couple of year ago.
Anyways, I am not sure whether Sunway Lagoon still conduct any surfing lessons. Any of you surfer
enthusiaste would like to know more about it, well, you can contact them at 03-735 8000.
