We lived in Bristol.  At the weekends, we travelled South & West. My owner was a member of the British Sub-Aqua Club.   With her friends, she spent holidays camping and diving.   Murray's Ruby

The Motorways were still under construction.  Travelling from Bristol down the twisty A38 was not easy for either of us.  My six volt headlamps were not very effective. Usually, we travelled in convoy, with the newer cars in the lead.   There were sometimes 20 or 30 people, crammed into a few old cars.   It is a pity we did not own a camera, in those days.

My owner's American penpal wanted to see "little old England."
I was "quaint" and could squeeze down the smallest country lane.  Coming off Dartmoor, my brakes overheated.   Little did Hazel know that the only way my owner could stop my downhill gallop was to push my bonnet firmly into the hedge!   They were certainly the Good Old Days!   Cars travel so fast now that even if my owner leaves space in which to stop, with my cable brakes, she has to take care.   Impatient drivers will pull out, in front of us.   We have to travel at snail's pace.   I enjoyed being the one and ONLY car.   I had a good friend, a Bull-nosed Morris, whose owner enjoyed days out, talking to his passengers.   He was often unaware that there was a two-mile queue, behind him, travelling up any long hill!   For me, those were the golden years of elegance, and leisurely motoring.
