Cat Care Tip:

The hair conditioner in our home never seems to last as long as
the shampoo. So, to make it last longer and to save money, I add
water to it when it gets about 1/3 to 1/2 used. It works just as
well as it did before adding the water and it lasts longer,
saving us money. And having had a large family, saving money
was very important to make ends meet. - Chrystal
We have a hummingbird feeder that was also drawing a ton of ants.
The ants would end up drowning in the hummingbird food and floating
at the top of the solution. Since it was contaminating the
hummingbird food we decided to try putting vaseline on the string
to the feeder that was hanging and at the base of the other
feeders. The vaseline prevented the ants from getting to the
hummingbird food yet didn't kill the ants. They just stopped
trying to get to the food. Best of all, it wasn't something that
would hurt the hummingbirds either! - Linda
We have 3 cats in our home who are never allowed outside and they
were literally tearing up our house scratching on furniture and
doorposts. They didn't have a scratching post and we couldn't
afford to have them declawed or buy a scratching post for them
at the time. So, to prevent further damage, I got a few pieces of
firewood we keep for our fireplace and placed them near the places
they liked to sharpen their claws on. From then on the cats all
started using the firewood to sharpen their claws on instead of
our furniture or home! - Mary
