New Anti Virus Newsgroup Debut-
If you
have come to this site, you are likely coming here after following the
link in my sig from alt.comp.virus. Now, you have a new way to get help
for your security and anti virus problems. On May 24, 2001 I took the
initative in proposing a new newsgroup for anti virus and general security
issues.
The new group,
alt.comp.anti-virus is
the latest resource available to you.
If you wish to subscribe to this group, you must request that your ISP add it to your news server.
Some of the major services that carry alt.comp.anti-virus include Road Runner/Time Warner, Google Groups, AT&T Worldnet, DFN-CIS (Berlin University news server -- FREE!), Mindspring, QWest, Bell Nexxia and many others.
The alt.comp.anti-virus Charter
alt.comp.anti-virus is for topics related to the prevention and detection of computer virus infections.
Discussions of anti-virus software, preventative measures, new virus warnings, virus hoaxes, disinfection information and general security information related to viruses and other malicious software are also welcome topics of discussion.
No attachments of any kind are permitted.
This includes, but is not limited to: V-cards, virus source code, binaries, complete viruses, Trojan Horse programs, registry files, images etc.
The following are also prohibited:
HTML or Rich Text formatted posts. All posts (messages) must be in plain text only and be human-readable.
Complete virus source code.
Partial virus source code not used in a demonstrative way intended to help prevent the use of an exploit, prevent an infection, or diagnose a problem that is relevant to a current thread or discussion.
Direct or indirect links to sites that promote or distribute software or exploits that are designed or intended for malicious purposes, Illegal activity (as determined by either the sender or the recipient with regard to laws relative to them), or for harassing others.
Discussion of hacks, cracks, warez, serial numbers or the illegal exchange of copyrighted software is prohibited and will be considered off topic (OT).
Slanderous, abusive or otherwise derogatory posts are also not permitted.
Unmarked off-topic materials, advertising (SPAM), non-productive excessive posting, cancel attacks, and abusive cross postings are prohibited.
"Flame wars" are prohibited and would be participants are encouraged to use Email for their communications.
