=MISSION STATEMENT=
Distant ThunderThe purpose for Distant Thunder Films is a simple one: To make great films to the best of our ability. We strive for creative, unique, and excellent artistic expression. We do not make blockbusters. We are not a bank. We are a movie studio that depends on the creative genius for succes and not the dollar amount. The purpose in which this studio was made was as an alternative from the impersonal, exclusive, and greedy large hollywood studios. We make movies not on a budget or for a profit, but to tell stories and give people opportunities. "We want to make films...not profit."

=HISTORY=
Distant ThunderDistant Thunder Films was started in 1999 by young filmmakers Joseph and Phillip Matarrese. Distant Thunder was the name that was given to the project that the Matarrese Brothers hoped would change hollywood and the art of filmmaking forever. Their idea ran along the same lines of Francis Ford Coppela's dream: American Zoatrope. Distant Thunder(DT) would be a studio in which it owned its own cameras, equipment, land, and movie rights. DT would not be a "bank" or just a financial backer that most large hollywood studios were and still are today. Dt was just interested in making movies, not for the blockbuster earnings or the capital gain, but for the art of telling stories and making films.
Distant ThunderOver the years, many small shorts were made, most were just above home video quality. But the Matarrese Brothers and their friends kept working hard to get the shot just right. They all had the big hollywood image fixed in their minds and worked hard to try to recreate that the best they could. And today the Matarrese Brothers have progressed and have turned Distant Thunder from a garage movie making idea into a real-life, international film experience.
