If your Clothes Have any Red
(sing to the tune of "If your happy and you know it")

If your clothes have any red, any red,
If your clothes have any red, any red,
If your clothes have any red,
Put your finger on your head, If your clothes have any red, any red,

If your clothes have any blue, any blue,
If your clothes have any blue, any blue,
If your clothes have any blue,
Put your finger on your shoe
If your clothes have any blue , any blue.

Continue: green-wave your hand so you are seen
yellow-smile just like a happy fellow
brown-turn you smile into a frown
white-stamp your feet with all your might
black-put your hands behind your back

Art
Red Wagon Book
Give each child a red constr. paper wagon to cut out. Add a black handle and black wheels. Then the child can draw anything they'd like to put in their red wagon. Let them tell you about it and write their responses on the bottom of the page. Staple everyone's picture together for your very own Red Wagon Book.

Red Pineapple Punch
Mix together 1 large can unsweetened pineapple juice, 6 cups cold water and 1 packet unsweetened Kool-Aid Tropical Punch mix. Stir well and serve.

Sunflowers
Have the children paint paper plates yellow. While the paint is still wet, press yellow tissue paper pieces around the edges to create petals. When the paint is dry, have the children glue sunflower seeds in the center of the plates. Then attach green stems and leaves and hang on the wall. Try to find a real sunflower or a picture to discuss it's size, colors, etc.

Corncob Printing
Wash corncobs and allow them to dry for several days. Make print pads by placing folded paper towels in shallow containers and pouring on yellow tempera paint. Have the kids first roll the corncobs in the paint and the roll them on the paper to make prints. * Also you can cut the corncob in half and dip the cob in paint. Press them on paper to make corncob "flowers". Add stems and leaves.

Song: Over in the Barnyard
(sung to the tune: "Down By The Station") Over in the Barnyard
Early in the morning
See the yellow chickies
Standing in a row.
See the busy farmer
Giving them their breakfast
Cheep, cheep, cheep, cheep
Off they go!

Over in the Barnyard
Early in the morning
See the yellow duckies
Standing in a row.
See the busy farmer
Giving them their breakfast
Quack, quack, quack, quack
Off they go!

Banana Pudding
Each child needs 1 Tablespoon instant banana pudding in a clean baby food jar. Add 2 Tablespoons cold milk and watch as the contents turn yellow. Put lids on tightly and have them shake it for about 45 seconds. Then they can eat!! Serve with sliced bananas to count as a fruit serving.

Balloon painting
Partially blow up small balloons. Dip in blue paint and press onto paper making neat prints.

Marble Ocean Scene
Needed: 1 or 2 marbles, blue tempera paint, a box with a lid, and paper cut to fit in the box.
Put the paper in the box. Add several drops of blue paint on the paper. Drop the marble(s) in, close the lid and the kids can shake the box around all different directions. When done the whole paper should be mostly blue. (using light and dark blue would make a nice water scene) Glue on paper fish shapes, starfish, sharks, whales, etc to make your ocean scene.

Blueberry Syrup
In blender, place 1 cup blueberries and 1/2 cup unsweetened frozen apple juice concentrate. Blend well and pour mixture into a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Add 1 tsp cornstarch that has been mixed with 2 tsps water. Boil for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in 1/2 tsp vanilla. Cool slightly and serve as a topping for pancakes, waffles, or french toast.

Green Forest
Cut different sized triangles out of various kinds of shades of green paper. Let the children glue the triangle "trees" on a large sheet of construction paper to create their forest.

Handprint Alligators
Paint the top of their thumb, side of the pointer finger, and the part of the hand inbetween that with green washable paint. Hold hand outward as if to shake someone else's hand with thumb and pointer about two inches apart. Someone else needs to take a piece of paper and lay it on top of the hand and press down. Turn it over to display the mouth of your alligator. Paint the rest of the body in and add teeth!!

Did You See A Lizard?
sung to : "Did you ever see a Lassie?"
Did you ever see a lizard, a lizard, a lizard
Did you ever see a lizard all dressed up in green?
With green eyes and green nose,
With green legs and green toes.
Did you ever see a lizard all dressed up in green?

Orange Fishies
Cut large fish shapes out of orange const. paper. Set out glueand pre-cut orange tissue paper squares. Have the children brush on the glue onto the fish and add the tissue paper to create scales. When dry, add a marker eye and mouth.

Pumpkin Pies
Using scalloped scissors, cut a large circle out of brown constr. paper. With plain scissors, but a smaller orange circle and glue to the brown circle. This is your pumkin pie. Brush glue on the orange circle. Have the kids sprinkle small amount of cinnamon, cloves, and ginger to complete their fragrant pies!

Orange Lemonade
Add red food coloring to water in a pitcher. Fill ice cube trays with it and freeze. When the ice cubes are partially frozen, make lemonade with the children. When ready to drink, add the red ice cubes and have them stir with their own popsicle stick or spoon. Discuss why the lemonade turns orange as the cubes melt.

I'm a Little Pumpkin
(sung to "I'm a little teapot")
I'm a little pumpkin,
Orange and round.
When I'm sad, my face wears as frown
But when I am happy, all aglow,
Watch my smile just grow, grow, grow!!

I Met A Purple Cow
I met a purple cow, walking down the street.
A little purple cow with purple eyes and feet.
She looked just like the other cows do,
Except she was purple and her milk was too!
I met a purple cow, walking down the street.
Moo, moo, moo, moo, moo!!

new version from Susan...
*sung to Little Brown Jug
I met a purple cow, walking down the street.
A little purple cow with purple eyes and feet.
She looked just like the other cows do,
Except she was purple and her milk was too!
Moo moo moo, hee, hee, hee;
I met a purple cow, walking down the street.
Moo, moo, moo, hee, hee,hee;
I met a purple cow, walking down the street.

Purple Cow Shakes
Pour 1 quart milk and 1 6-oz. can unsweetened frozen grape juice concentrate in to a plastic container that has a tightly fitting lid. Then let the kids take turns shaking the container until the milk and juice are well mixed. Pour into clear plastic glasses and serve. Makes 9 to 10 servings.

Rainbow Rhyme
from Cheryl Ciconi and Mailbox Magazine spring 99

Have chalk and a chalkboard or markers and paper ready to use while reading this rhyme to the class.

Six little markers all standing in a line.
They said, "Let's draw a picture and make it mighty fine!"
RED jumped for joy as he leaped across the sky. ORANGE jumped too, but not quite so high.
Next came YELLOW as bright as the sun.
GREEN was excited as he started to run.
BLUE followed bodly, then looked all around.
PURPLE came last, nearly touching the ground.
"Isn't this lovely?" the markers excalimed. "We've made a rainbow without any rain!"

Red, red, red, touch your head.
Blue, blue, blue, tie your shoe.

Yellow, purple, black and white!
What is red? Juicy beets!
What is brown? Chocolate treats!
What is white? A shiny moon!
What is grey? A big baboon!
What is orange? Carrot sticks!
What is yellow? Baby chicks!
What is gold? Bright goldfish!
What is black? Licorice!
What is green? Grass so high!
What is blue? The open sky!
What is purple? Eggplant shells!
What is silver? Silver bells!
