OUR ALI

We bought Ali as an eight-week-old puppy from a farm in Cambridgeshire, at the time we bought Ali we also had an older dobermann named Tyson, Ali got on very well with her. Ali was very submissive towards Tyson, and realised she was top dog, we believe that this helped her in her later life not to be aggressive towards other dog's, to which we have had no trouble whatsoever.

Puppy training was not easy, lead training is a must for this type of dog, as they get older they tend to pull on the lead, and believe me a full-grown bull mastiff wishing to go the opposite direction to you is very difficult to stop. House training is also another task that I don't think was too easy for the dog. I don't believe they are the easiest dog to train, the simple basics can become quite easy for the dog, ours doesn't seem too interested in anything that is too complicated(like skateboarding). We wish now that we would have taken her to puppy class training, as this would have introduced her to other dogs, and maybe she would have been better learning the commands with all the distractions around her. She tends to be OK in the house and on the yard, but when she is out sometimes the commands we give her go on deaf ears.

As a pet we have found Ali to be one of the nicest dogs we have ever owned, her temperament is superb. She has been bought up with four young children, and we have never once had any problems, her nature is excellent. I don't think you can go far wrong with having a bullmastiff as a pet, we have found everybody she meets loves her, I would heartily recommend anybody to own a bullmastiff, with children or without children, working or not working.
