FACTS

• Breast cancer accounts for 29% of all cancers in women.

• One out of eight will develop breast cancer sometime during their life

• All women are at risk for breast cancer.  This includes African American women.

• Risk factors include:  a strong family or personal history, starting periods at a young age or going through menopause late in life

• Breast cancer can be detected and treated.  Finding breast cancer early and immediate treatment are key

• Good breast care includes monthly breast examination, mammography, and yearly exams by a medical professional and women to women support.
