BREAKFAST CLUB BROTHERS
The Breakfast Club Brothers is a support group for those who have spouses or significant others with breast cancer. The husbands especially, decided that they, too, had a story, and had made profound life choices as a result of a diagnosis of breast cancer. Through this experience, they found that they too needed an outlet to counsel one another and out of this need the Breakfast Brothers was organized.
Last year, the group held a panel discussion which was powerful. The men were genuine when describing their pain, intense when detailing their love for their partners and very explicit about the role of early detection. As a result of the initial discussion, the men have provided support to spouses, participated in health fairs and conducted panel discussions at neighborhood churches.
