Husband Laughs in FL

__________

Dear Delriece...

I have just begun to find and follow my path in the Wiccan religion. I sort of belong to a coven and have done much research on my own. My problem would be my husband. He does not believe in any of it and no matter how I try to present it he pretty much laughs at me or makes a joke about it. I want him to understand or atleast accept how I feel about it. I have to keep my alter put a way and pull it out when he is not home (he knows about my stuff and doesn't bother with it) but I don't feel I can fully follow my chosen path because of the way he acts towards it. Any advice? Just a second mention we do have two children..12 and 10 and I have not even tried to enter them into my thinking nor do I think they are ready to understand it, so he knows the kids would not be an issue. Any thoughts?

Dear Husband Laughs,

Sometimes the laughing loved one can be harder to deal with than the angry one! He belittles your religion probably because he doesn't understand or because he's uncomfortable with it or both! If he supports you in other matters, chances are he'll be supportive in this case too once he realizes it's not just some hobby of yours. Take some time out to talk to him and tell him that you're sharing something with him that is very close to your heart. Tell him how it makes you feel when he laughs without attacking him. Focus on your own feelings and what you need him to do to help you. Let him know that he doesn't need to believe it, or even understand it. He just needs to understand and respect your needs.

Light!
Delriece
