Dear Delriece...

I have been reading and studying wicca/witchcraft, in secret, for a while. I have not yet begun to seriously be able to study the craft due to the fact that my husband is a Southern Babtist and openly hates this religion. My sister is a practicing wiccan and he makes fun of her practices. Once he found a book on witchcraft she had lent me, upon my request, so I could begin to learn all the different aspects of this wonderful religion. When he discovered it, he became very angry and told me that he had better not catch anymore of "those" types of books or stuff in his house ever again. Needless to say, from that moment on I have had to learn everything in secret. I want to learn and begin to practice, but I am scared. We have a 3 year old son, and I am afraid he would leave and take my son and use my religion against me in court. I do not want to give up my quest! What should I do?

Thank you for listening.

Dear Arwen,

I think that the best weapon you could have in this situation is to be prepared. Begin by researching your legal options if he were to bring charges against you to take your son away. Find a place for you to stay with your son if your husband should make it necessary to leave your home. And finally, be mentally prepared for a negative reaction from him. If you fear that his reaction will be violent, make sure your son is elsewhere and that you have someone with you when you speak with him about the matter.

Light!
Delriece
