What is an Alpha State and how do you attain one?

Dear Moonlightangel,
An Alpha State is so named because when you are in this state your brain produces alpha waves. You are in this state during the time just before you go to sleep each night. During meditation one tries to achieve this state between sleep and waking. There are many methods for training yourself to sit in receptive silence and I suggest you visit your local library and check out a book on meditation.
