Critical AutoCAD2000™ Settings

You can access the Settings (or Options) dialogue box by selecting Options... from the Tools pulldown menu, or by right-clicking while the cursor is within the command line area and selecting Options... from the pop-up menu.

Critical for our purposes are the following:

On the Open and Save tab, in the "External References (Xrefs)" area, be sure to select the "Enabled with copy" option, and that both boxes below it are checked.

You should now be able to create and edit AutoCad drawings without receiving "Sharing Violation" error messages.
