Page Layouts

Overview

AutoCad 2000 has redefined the way operators see Paper Space. Now, a single drawing file can contain several drawings, each on its own unique layout.

Creating a New Layout

  1. In AutoCad, click on a layout tab at the bottom of your drawing window.
  2. Right-click within the tab itself. Choose from any of several options within the pop-up menu.

Setting Layout Size

For this, refer to the section on Page Setup.

Importing Previously User-Defined Layouts

If you are already in a drawing, perhaps one created in ACAD R14, you may import page layouts as follows.

  1. Open a drawing, using ACAD 2000.

  2. Make active one of the page layouts (not the one called "Model"), tabbed at the bottom of your screen.

  3. Under the FILE pull-down menu, select Page Setup

  4. Select the Plot Device tab, and in the Plotter Configuration, NAME: area, and select the plotter driver (probably called ACAD2k HP 755CM Plotter.cp3).

  5. In the upper right window, there may be a default message that reads "Select page setup to apply".
    • If this is the case, click on the "down" arrow; the various page setups may already exist in the drawing. In the event that they do, select one as described in step 8, below. If not, continue with step 6.

  6. In the extreme upper right, select ADD. A User defined page setups dialogue box appears.

  7. Select Import and browse the directory for the following drawing G:\AutoCAD\Standard Details\Title Blocks-roll feed\ODC TEMPLATE 2000.dwg. Select this drawing by double-clicking it.

  8. Upon selecting this drawing, an Import user defined page setup(s) dialogue box appears which lists the various custom-made page setups contained therein. Select one, or select several by holding the [SHIFT] key as you pick. Select OK. The setups are now "in" your drawing.

  9. In the User defined page setups dialogue box that has remained on your screen, double-click the setup you wish to apply to the currently active Layout.
