Why does my text look so small when I plot?
One of two things has happened: Either the scale of the given viewport is smaller than you thought, or the text style used was not the correct text style for the scale of the given viewport. Click here for a complete list of viewport scales and corresponding text styles.

Why does one of my page borders not print when I send it to the plotter? Among the more likely reasons for this is that the location of the border, on your plottable sheet, has shifted. If your border has been inserted as a block, rather than an Xref, it is possible that the block has been exploded and subsequently stretched, causing one or more edges to fall outside the plottable area. It is also possible that the Xref or block, has been inserted at the wrong basepoint. The Insertion point should ALWAYS be (0,0,0). Another scenario is that the sheet size for the printer driver has not been accurately set. Go to Page Setup to learn how to do this properly.

Why are certain elements of my drawing not visible in a viewport in which I specifically want them to BE visible? In all likelihood, the elements are not drawn on the layer you think they are. Also, if the elements are a part of a block, it is possible that elements nested within the block are not on the same layer as the block itself, thus, parts of the block are invisible in the given viewport. Third, in the case of a block or Xref, if the insertion was made while your current layer was a layer that is frozen in the given viewport, the whole block / xref will be invisible in the viewport. Click here to learn more about block element visibility.

When I insert a block, why does it not appear? It is possible that the block was inserted on a frozen layer. It is also possible that the elements drawin within the block have been drawn on a layer that is either frozen in the current viewport or simply turned off. Another quick check is to _Zoom Extents to see if the block was inserted at an unexpected insertion point or an unexpected scale.

When I perform an Xref, why does it not appear? It is possible that the Xref was inserted on a frozen layer or a layer that was turned off. It is also possible that the Xref in question was drawn in Paper Space, and thus, could not be successfully inserted.

Why are the lines all the same (or wrong) weight on my plot?
Check Page Setup to make sure that the correct .ctb file (color dependent plot style table) has been selected, in our case, this file is called "SU-acad.ctb." If this is not among the choices available in the Plot Style Table drop-down list on the Plot Device tab, you can add it by clicking here to get to the online file storage site, and following the on-screen instructions for saving it to yourC:\AcadArch\Plot Styles folder.

How do I create a new page layout?
Click on a layout tab at the bottom of your drawing window. Then, right-click within the tab itself. Choose the Move or Copy... or New Layout... options from within the pop-up menu.

Is there a way to "lock" my viewport's scale so that I don't inadvertently keep changing it? Yes. In Paper Space, click on the viewport's border, then Right-click, and choose the Display locked... option from the pop-up menu, and pick "Yes." The viewport scale will now be locked to prevent accidental re-scaling of the image displayed within it.
