In 1975, a
tragedy occurred... The 729ft. long iron-ore carrier Edmund Fitzgerald was lost in a
violent storm on the Great Lakes taking all 29 of her crew to the bottom with her.
Since that day early in November, we have become fascinated with this ship.
"The Pride of the American Side" dissappeared without a call for help... in
seconds... LOST... and since then she has been in our hearts and in our minds.
If you ask any boatnerd, they all know the Fitz... she and her crew have captured
our imagination. The ship is what got me interested in the Lakes after moving here
from Tennessee a few years ago. Like so many others, I was touched by the song by G.
Lightfoot... but it did not end there, I have since read anything about her I could, have
collected artwork, posters, prints, diagrams, and drawings. All part of a love
affair with a boat I never saw... or will ever get to see...a boat that was lost when I
was only 5! Still yet, I have started to put together my own tribute the tragic
Fitzgerald... As a 3D artist, I started working on reproducing her from drawing and
pictures as a 3D animation model. Here on this page as some of the fruits of my
efforts. She is not finished...not yet... but please take a look... Let me know what
you think! As I get my animation complete, I will post that up too!
