A few words about the author.
Hello Folks, by now you have probably seen most of my homepage. I hope
you have had a good time while browsing through it. My nickname on the
Internet is Zekolla, but my real name is Mathias Kümmerlen Heinrich.
I live in this awesome little piece of land called Costa Rica, where green
is the most common colour and live is more abundant than anywhere else
on our planet.
This fact, of growing up surrounded by lush and
abundant nature, marked my existence. Nature has always been a part of
my life and has also thaught me quite few things. But most important of
all, with time I have learnt what many people on our planet still ignore:
it is most important to preserve nature, at any rate, in any place, anytime.
Your profession, or special interest does not make a difference, but our
effort to make anything that is within our reach, can make the difference.
The difference between a healthy world or a precarious planet governed
in a cruel and decadent way.
Well, that was just to wake up those who haven't
realized that they can actually do things for our environment. Watch what
you buy, reuse, recycle. Use as few fuel as you possibly can, or buy alternative
power sources. Keep a green garden [if you have one at all], plant your
own veggies [if not try organic farm products], keep indigenous plants
to support local flora and fauna. You can recreate small habitats. You
can be vegetarian. You can use non-animal products. You can help as you
think it is most appropiate. But please, be sure you are doing your part.
Now, Birding. That is an important word to me. It
all started in 1995 at the age of 15, when I got the "Guide to the Birds
of Costa Rica" by Stiles and Skutch, and my first binoculars. I just
haven't stopped since then, although I have to admit I slowed down sometimes,
but well... I take my birding stuff everywhere I can take them, and therefore
have seen quite a few of the 850 [aprox.] species Costa Rica has to offer.
Quite a few is now, about 300 species. A year in New Zealand gave me opportunity
to widen my experience a lot. Plus some extremely short and scarce birding
experiences in the U.S.
When there's a chance I take some Photos, but their
actual quality is not quite promising, so forgive me. I am really hoping
to do better in the future. Meanwhile enjoy the pictures, and please do
sent me your comments on them, and maybe suggestions to improve.
That'll be all about me for now, but if you think
I can fill you in about something, don't doubt on e-mailing me.
