Bigfoot a.k.a. Sasquatch
Description: Bigfoot (plural = Bigfoot) are huge often measuring between 6-10 feet tall and between 350 and 1000 lbs. The male is usually a bit bigger. They are covered in hair, except for their face, bottom of their feet and palms of their hands. Their coat color varies from light colors like silver, grey and white to the more common dark colors like brown, black and dark reddish shades. Their hair has been reported to be short about 2 in and long about 12 in. They are often reported to have a pointed or conical shape to the top of their head. This would be a sagittal crest. The crest would support large muscles involved with chewing. They have broad, flat noses and small eyes. Their shoulders are broad and strong and the arms are slightly long. Bigfoot are known for their immense strength.
Bigfoot dont wear clothes, use fire or have a language so they are ape-like. They have been heard and recorded making loud cries/screams/mumbles at night. Thousands of footprints have been cast, with most adults being between 12 and 20 inches long. Some prints obviously show a double ball and dermal ridges (finger prints).
They have an omnivorous diet consisting of berries, plants, roots and herbivorous animals like Deer and Elk and more.
What are they: They could be the thought-to-be-extinct primate, Gigantopithecus. They could have crossed the Bering Strait land bridge some 30,000 years ago (they also could have crossed before or after that date) to get into the US/Canada. The late Dr. Grover Krantz was the leading proponent of the gigantopithecus theory. They are some people who think Bigfoot are surviving Australiopithecines. I think this is wrong. The biggest australiopithecines were only about 5 feet tall and about 150 lbs. They also lived in Africa, in a tropical environment. To think they could have evolved to a much greater size and evolved the abilities to survive in cold weather environments is very unlikely. Others think Bigfoot is a form of Homo Erectus. This is also extremely unlikely. Homo Erectus used complicated tools, used fire and had an advanced culture. Homo Erectus were also rather small and didn't have much hair. Bigfoot is much different in many important ways. Although its hard to say exactly what Bigfoot is, its probably a gigantopithecus species or subspecies or Bigfoot could be another type of surviving Asian Wood Ape.
Location: Western Canada, Pacific Northwest and across the US.
Report: Mrs. Jeannie Chapman's Encounter in British Columbia.
It was a fine day in September 1941, and she was at home with her three children aged 9, 7 and 5 in a small and isolated house near Ruby Creek, beside the Frasier River, British Columbia. her eldest son reported seeing a 'cow' coming out of the woods, but when she went to look she thought the creature was a bear. As it came nearer, she could see that it was a huge, hairy man about 7 1/2 feet tall, wide-shouldered and with long arms. The hair was pale yellow-brown, about 4 inches long. As the creature seemed to be making for their house, Mrs. Chapman grabbed the frightened children and, shielding then from the creature's view, shepherded them away to the safety of the village. Later that day, George Chapman returned home from work and found the house deserted. He was rather alarmed to find huge, 16 inch-long human-like footprints everywhere, and a broken woodshed door, but then he saw his family's trackes beside the river, not followed by the huge ones. It seemed after the Chapman's had fled, the Bigfoot had looked around and broken open a 55-gallon tub of salt fish which it had scattered around. In the days that followed, the Bigfoot returned to the house every night for a week, and although it did no harm to people or property, the experience was too much for the family and they left the house for good.
