It's anybody's guess why this hasn't happened yet. Professor David Lane, who has spoken with the Radhasoami and Sant Mat people, believes it's because Eckankar has deep pockets and doesn't hesitate to throw around its legal weight. He has been threatened by them a number of times with lawsuits and Garland Publishers was also threatened with a hefty lawsuit if they went ahead with publication of a book critical to Eckankar, even though the material was backed up by solid documentation. In short, lawsuits are expensive, and Eckankar has the money, while the other groups, as a rule, do not. Sadly, it's well known that to pursue the legal route is an extremely expensive proposition and can cost many thousands and thousands of dollars and move with glacial slowness through the court systems. It's a daunting prospect for small fries to try and bring rich cults to any justice. This doesn't say anything about tomorrow, though. Or next week or next month. Although Harold Klemp has systematically destroyed or covered up much of the more blatant evidence, much still remains and is still contained in publications being sold for profit by Eckankar. |
