To Save the Future

Part Five

Lord Lion-O stepped forward. Tamar stepped behind him out of her mother’s view beside her brother. Lord Lion-O leaned over and smiled at Lady Cheetara. After all these years, his wife, has finally awakened from her coma. The awakened cheetah looked up and saw her husband.

"Lion-O?"

He smiles as he picks up her hand and kisses it. "Yes, it's me."

His wife took her hand and rubbed it against the hair on his face. "You've grown a beard? How long have I been out?"

"Too long," he replied and kissed her. He kissed her hard, pouring all his emotions in. It’s been far too long since he kissed his wife and he was going to savor every minute of it.

When he pulled back, she asked. "Our children—Dante. Tamar. Did they make it out of the battle all right?"

"Yes."

Relief flashed over Lady Cheetara’s eyes. "Where are they? I want to see them."

"You will,” he assured her and frowned. “It's just that you won't recognize them."

"Why not?"

Lord Lion-O paused for a moment before telling his wife the sad news. "You've been in a coma for thirteen years. They are adults now."

Lady Cheetara was startled by the news and starts to cry. Lord Lion-O wiped the tears from her eyes and hugged her tightly doing his best to comfort her. "I've been out that long. I missed so much of their lives."

"It's all right, Cheetara. They understand," Lion-O told her as he stroked her hair.

"Where are they?” Lady Cheetara asked anxiously. “I want to see them."

Lord Lion-O got off the bed and stepped back. Dante and Tamar stepped forward. The queen was surprised to see her children so grown. The last time she saw them, they were children only five and twelve. Now they were eighteen and twenty-five.

"Dante? Tamar?"

"It's us, mother," Dante said as he and his sister stepped forward. Together, they hugged their mother and cried.

Lady Cheetara looked at Dante and strokes a hand across his face. “You look so much like your father.” She looked at Tamar. “Oh, sweetie, you’ve grown into a beautiful woman. I miss so much of your lives,” Lady Cheetara started to cry again and her children put their arms around her, telling her it’s okay.

Lion-O, Cheetara, and Tyla took this moment to quietly make their exit. Outside, Tygra was waiting for them.

"Is it done? Did you bring Cheetara back?" Duke Tygra asked.

"Yes, she's awakened. We should leave them alone for a while. They need some private time," Cheetara suggested.

Everyone agreed. Lion-O, Tygra, and Tyla walked downstairs to tell the other ThunderCats the good news while Cheetara decided she wanted some time alone to herself. Cheetara walked alone in the lair, taking in the changes around the lair. It all seemed unreal, but it was.

The cheetah found herself outside behind Cat’s Lair. Cheetara hugged herself as a cool breeze blew by; the night breeze playing with her hair. She sat down on the back lawn, thinking about all that's happened and all that will happen.

"It's hard to believe, isn't it?"

Startled, Cheetara looked up and saw Lion-O. He sat next to her.

Cheetara nodded. "Yes, it is. Can you believe it? You and I are going to be married and parents."

“What’s not to believe? We are involve now. The thing that is amazing what will happen to us. I can’t believe we’re going to split up and form our own lands and hate each other.”

“Yeah,” Cheetara said glumly. “I’m gonna be in a coma, you’re going to into temporary insanity and kill all the mutants and Lunatacs, and the ThunderCats will split up.” She looked at Lion-O and smirked. “On the positive, your kissing has improved over the years.”

Lion-O laughed “What?”

Cheetara chuckled. “It’s true,” she said giving him a quick kiss. “So have your looks.”

"Really?” Lion-O said rubbing his smooth chin. “I don't know about that beard. I always like the clean shaven look."

"Either way, it's attractive," she said and kissed him again longer this time.

*****

Lord Lion-O and Lady Cheetara were now alone in the room. After talking to their children for a long while, Dante and Tamar left their parents alone. They knew their parents had plenty of catching up to do. While alone, Lion-O explained to her everything that caused the ThunderCats separation and the purpose of the younger Thundercats.

"So, that's what happened," Cheetara said taking it all in.

"Yes, and I'm sorry for what I did to Tamar. I isolated her from me, so much so that she started spending time with Tygra and looking towards him as a father. I failed her."

"I know you’re sorry, Lion-O. I know you didn't mean it. You weren't in your right mind at the time. Thankfully, you’ve learned from it. I'm surprised that I have that type of affect on you."

"You know how crazy I am about you," Lion-O said and kissed her right temple.

Cheetara pushed Lion-O off her. "At least Tamar forgives you and she knows that she didn't cause my accident. It was just meant to happen."

Her voice was low, unhappy. Lion-O became worried and suspected that his wife didn't forgive him. Lion-O took her hand in his. "But do you forgive me?"

There was a moment of silence between the two. She looked at him. "Forgive you for what you did to our daughter, what happened to the Thundercats, the death of the Mutants and Lunatacs and aligning yourself with Mumm-Ra?" She turned away sighing and looked back at him. "Yes, I do forgive you. It wasn't your fault. None of it was. A lot has happened over the years, and even though we are married, we aren't as close as we used to be. Our connection is lost,” she saw her husband’s glum look and force a smile. “However, I do think that once we spend some time together and get to know each other once more, we will get that special connection back. I know it."

She gave him a kiss to assure him. Cheetara pulled back and laughed. "Your beard tickles." She took her hand and stroked the rough red hair on her husband's face. "You grew this after I was put in a coma?"

"Yes, I guess it would fit my changed person. What do you think?"

"It looks nice. It may take some getting used to. I like the clean look better, though, but it does gives you a distinguish look," she said with a wicked smile, hinting at something else in her brown eyes. Cheetara looked at his black uniform. "And you have a new uniform. I can't say I liked this. I prefer your blue uniform."

"Oh?" Lion-O raised an eyebrow. "And why was that?" He asked as if he didn't know the answer.

Cheetara laughed and pulled her husband close to her. "I think you know why," she replied in a sultry voice. She kisses him deeply and when she pulled back, she was looking into his eyes. "I love you, Lion-O."

It's been a long time since he heard those words. He cupped her face with his hands. "I love you, too. Always and forever," his voice full of emotion and kissed her again with all his love.

Cheetara kissed him back until a pain shot in her head. She pulled apart and screamed, clutching her head as it throbbed.

"Cheetara, what is it?" Lion-O asked.

*****

Outside Cat's Lair, Dante and Tamar walked in the backyard of their home talking about very important business.

"After mother and father spend some time together we can get started on taking on Mumm-Ra. My senses tells me Mumm-Ra is nearing his total power," Dante rubbing the side of his head.

"If we are able to defeat Mumm-Ra, what are we to do with the other Thundercats? They can't remember this. If so, they may do something to change it."

"If we are able to defeat Mumm-Ra?" Tamar's brother questioned her. "Of course we will be able to. We have both the Sword of Omens."

"You're overconfident, Dante. Just like you told me about Dad was from time to time."

"It's inheritance." Dante said proudly. "Seriously though, mother will take care of the younger Thundercats. It’s a shame we’ll have to do what we have to but it must me done. If the ThunderCats go back in the past knowing this, they may change it.”

“But wouldn’t that be a good thing?” Tamar asked.

“No. No matter how bad their future will become, we cannot change it. If we did, the Mutants and Lunatacs will still be alive. You know that. It’s a life lesson we all must go through. We shouldn’t change the past. We must learn from it and do our best not to let it happen again,” Dante explain. “On the bright side, I'm glad mother back. I've never seen father so happy."

"Yes," Tamar agreed. “I never really knew how much they cared about each other until I saw them just now.” She looked ahead and stopped. She held a hand out to stopped her brother too. They were almost laughing at the scene before them. They saw the younger Lion-O and Cheetara making out.

"This is another thing you missed, Tamar. Mom and Dad were always like this."

Lion-O and Cheetara stopped what they were doing and looked up at Tamar and Dante who were looking down on them.

"Tamar, Dante, um, hi." Cheetara said nervously.

"Hello," their future children said.

Lion-O and Cheetara tried to look cool, but felt embarrass. They shouldn't be after all. It was only their future children who caught them. It was only natural they expressed their feelings together.

"So, um, how is everything?" Lion-O asked.

"Everything's fine. It's just that…" Dante clamped his head and fell to his knees, screaming.

Cheetara rushed to Dante. "Dante, what's wrong?" Cheetara screamed and clamped her head.

"Cheetara, what's wrong?" Lion-O asked.

Cheetara and Dante repeated the words together. "Mumm-Ra...he's at his full power. So powerful."

They collapsed on the ground. Lion-O picked up Cheetara and Tamar picked up Dante. They suddenly awakened.

"I felt Mumm-Ra's power, Lion-O. He's much stronger than before. So much stronger," Cheetara said leaning on him.

The ground begins to shake, like a large earthquake. The skies became darker and thunderous. The evil force that was now threatening the planet now darkened the full moon that lit the sky. There were loud clashes of thunder, blazing lighting that lit of the sky. Cheetara looked up and could have sworn for a second she saw Mumm-Ra's image every time lightning lit the sky. The Thundercats rushed inside Cat's Lair to where all ThunderCats rush to in an emergency—the council room. Lord Lion-O and Cheetara were with the others in the council room when Lion-O, Cheetara, Tamar and Dante entered.

"It's Mumm-Ra," Dante said.

"I know," his mother replied. "I sense it too. He's far more powerful than we last faced him."

"We know this, mother," Tamar spoke. "That's why I went back in time to get the Sword of Omens, and also brought the other Thundercats."

"Good. Since we're all here, let's get rid of Mumm-Ra once and for all." Panthro said.

Before anyone said anything, the ground rumbled again. Both Cheetaras and Dante clasped their head. "Mumm-Ra. He's approaching. So strong."

“This is it, ThunderCats—our greatest battle.” Lion-O said. “I must get the Sword of Omens to fight.”

“But do you think it will work for you?” Tamar asked unsure. After the wickedness her father did years ago, she wasn’t sure the sword wouldn’t comply with him.

“I’m not the same man as I was. It only takes a moment to make a life changing decision. All the sword has to do is to see in my heart and know I have changed.” Lion-O said and left the room.

He entered the Sword Chamber where the Sword of Omens rests on its stand. “It has been a long time since I held you in battle. I wasn’t the right man to hold you when I lost my way, but after many years, I’ve found it now. Now, I need you again to fight off this evil. No matter what happens, I know this will be my last battle. I just need you one more time, Sword of Omens.”

Lion-O reached out to touch the Sword of Omens. He felt reluctant to touch the sword, unsure the blade will accept him as its master again. He wrapped his hands around the handle of the sword and nothing happened. It had accepted him. Lion-O smiled and left the room.

The others were outside ready for battle.

“This feels like old times,” Duke Panthro said twirling his nunchuks.

“Hopefully, we haven’t lost our touch,” Duke Tygra commented cracking his whip. “It’s been years since I’ve used this.”

Lion-O stepped out and all the ThunderCats stood in attendance as their leader prepared to take them into battle. The rumblings were getting closer. The ThunderCats looked up as darkness clouded over all of them.

An evil laughter filled the air as it inched closer and closer to the ThunderCats.

“It’s Mumm-Ra,” Duke WilyKat said.

“Exactly Thunderkitten!” Mumm-Ra roared.

The ThunderCats gasped as they saw a monumental Mumm-Ra materialized before them. He was twice the size as before.

“And I’m stronger than ever before!” He pointed a finger at Duke Tygra and a red beam shot through his finger and went through Tygra’s chest.

“Father!” Tyla screamed and ran to her father who collapsed to the ground. She held him up. She examined the wound. It went straight through Tygra’s heart. This wasn’t good. “Daddy?”

Lady Cheetara rushed to him and saw Tygra was fatally wound. “Tygra, hold on. We’ll get the Totem of Dera to heal you.”

Duke Tygra just looked at his daughter. “I’m so proud of you and I’ll always love you.”

“Daddy, don’t go,” Tyla cried, tears streaming down her face. “You don’t have to leave us. We can still save you.”

Tygra smiled and coughed weakly. “No, it’s too late for me. You wouldn’t be able to get the Totem no matter how fast you are.” He reached up and stroked the side of Lady Cheetara’s his face. “At least, I got to see your beautiful face one more time…my love.”

“Tygra?” Lady Cheetara said unsure what Tygra meant, but Tygra just closed his eyes. “Tygra!” Lady Cheetara screamed.

But Tygra never answered. He had passed. The other ThunderCats looked on in horror, especially Tygra. He couldn’t believed he witnessed his own death.

Mumm-Ra laughed. “Don’t look so sad, ThunderCats. I did Tygra a favor. His death is a lot less painful than when your time comes.”

Lord Lion-O consumed with anger over his friends death, roared loudly. He was not going to let Duke Tygra’s death be in vain. “YOU’LL PAY FOR THAT!” He raised the Sword of Omens. “HOOOO!!!”

The mighty Sword of Omens stretch to its fullest length. Lord Lion-O charged on Mumm-Ra attacking him with everything thing he had. Mumm-Ra pulled out the Sword of Plundarr and repelled each blow from the Sword of Omens with his sword.

Try as he might, Lord Lion-O wasn’t making a permanent blow on Mumm-Ra. No matter how hard Lord Lion-O attacked Mumm-Ra, Mumm-Ra will attack back with an even more powerful blow. Cuts and bruises were forming on Lord Lion-O’s body and his uniform began to tear.

“He can’t do it!” Tamar said. “Father can’t do it anymore! He’s not as strong as he used to be!”

“He may not be, but I am!” Lion-O shouted and joined in the fight with his older self.

Mumm-Ra just laughed. “Two Lion-O’s! Wonderful! I can destroy you both now and save a trip to the past!”

“You’ll never defeat us!” Lion-O said as he clashed his sword with the Sword of Plundarr.

Mumm-Ra laughed as he pushed Lion-O back with the sword and backslapped the older Lion-O hard. Lord Lion-O fell to the ground and the Sword of Omens flew out of his hands.

“Come on!” Duke Panthro shouted. “Are we just gonna stand here or are we gonna fight?!” He said and leads the charge to attack.

Both Panthros shot beams out of their nunchuks. Tygra and Tyla through fireballs from their whips at the mummy, both Bengalis’ and Pumryas took to the sky in the Feliner and Thunderstrike and attacked Mumm-Ra from the air, the WildCats threw explosives pellets at them, Cheetara shot beams out of her staff while Lady Cheetara fought with her telekinetic powers.

Dante and Tamar carried their injured father away from the battle.

“No,” Lord Lion-O protested. “I must fight.”

“You can’t do it, father. You will kill yourself if you continue to fight him. You’re not stronger than him now.” Dante explained.

“But I must fight. I am the Lord of the ThunderCats.”

“You may be,” Tamar said. “But you cannot fight this battle. The children of the Lord of the ThunderCats will and we will win. Now stay.”

Dante went to pick up the Sword of Omens. Tamar stood beside him. “Let’s go.”

*****

Panthro screamed as he crashed to the ground. He jumped to attack Mumm-Ra head on, but the powerful knocked him away. Though Mumm-Ra was being attacked from all sides, the ThunderCats were still losing. One by one, the ThunderCats were falling. Mumm-Ra shot a beam through the Feliner and Thunderstrike, causing both air vehicles to crash into the ground, knocking out its occupants.

Both WilyKats were knocked out into the ground after Mumm-Ra repelled their explosives pellets back at them. The twins tried to run and escape the bomb, but were hit in the blast.

The only ones left standing were Lion-O, Cheetara, and Lady Cheetara when Tamar and Dante arrived.

“He’s much stronger than we thought,” Lady Cheetara said as she flip to avoid Mumm-Ra’s death beam that killed Duke Tygra. Lion-O took charge to fight Mumm-Ra again.

“We’re here now, mother,” Tamar said as she approached her mother. “You know what we have to do.”

“Yes. Are you ready?”

Tamar nodded.

“What are they going to do?” Cheetara asked Dante.

“They will become one with the swords and the sword will become one,” Dante explained. “I was only planning it with Tamar’s power in the sword, but with my mother’s, we shall be a force to reckon with.”

Lion-O fell on his back, groaning in pain, the Sword of Omens flying out of his hands, too far to be reached.

Mumm-Ra laughed evilly and pointed a finger at him. “I’ve dreamed of this moment for years, and it’s all too sweet,” he shot his death beam at Lion-O, but a golden blast of energy diverted the beam away from Lion-O.

Mumm-Ra angrily looked towards the person who did that. “So, the older She-Cat thinks she can defeat me all by myself.”

Lady Cheetara laughed. “I’m not so foolish, Mumm-Ra,” she said and mentally pulled the Sword of Omens to her. A golden aura surrounded Lion-O and looked in wonder as he was being transported away from the battle to Cheetara, Dante and Tamar.

“That’s my cue,” Tamar said as she took the future Sword of Omens in her hand and went to her mother.

“Stay here with Lion-O, Cheetara,” Dante told her. “We’ll take care of Mumm-Ra for good.” He then went to join his sister.

Mumm-Ra looked down at the older cheetah unimpressed as she wield the Sword of Omens. He laughs arrogantly. “If you think you can wield the Sword of Omens as well as your once powerful mate, you are sadly mistaken.”

Lady Cheetara just smirked. She felt her daughter and son joining her.

“Oh-ho!” Mumm-Ra said apathetic as the children joined their mother. “So, you want to make the funeral a family affair?” He began twirling the Sword of Plundarr. “Let’s finish this.”

“Let’s.” Lady Cheetara said as she and her daughter raised the Sword of Omens above their heads.

Mumm-Ra watch on as Lady Cheetara and Tamar glowed a bright yellow. Their bodies faded into a yellow aura and began to swirl around the Sword of Omens as it floats in the air. Their energy entered the Eye of Thundera and the swords merged together, creating a blinding light in the sky. Lion-O and Cheetara covered their eyes to protect themselves. Even Mumm-Ra had to shield his eyes.

When the blinding light cleared, they all gasped at what stood before them. The Sword of Omens looked mightier than ever before. The sword twice it’s normal size, the blade was gold and the Eye of Thundera roared. Dante reached up and grabbed the sword. Electrifying power surrounded him as he grew in size, reaching Mumm-Ra’s height.

“Looks like we’re even, Mumm-Ra,” Dante said wielding the Sword of Omens.

“Even maybe, but I’m still powerful,” Mumm-Ra said and twirled the Sword of Plundarr. It stopped in mid-spin as the Sword of Omens pierced through the gold handle of the Sword of Plundarr.

Dante smiled smugly at Mumm-Ra, who eyed the son of Lion-O with anger. While Mumm-Ra was still in shock of what Dante did, Dante punched Mumm-Ra. The mummy fell back, but still held on to the Sword of Plundarr.

“HO!!!” Dante yelled as the blast from the swords power fired on Mumm-Ra. Mumm-Ra twirled the Sword of Plundarr to repel the energy back on Dante, but the Omen’s power was far too much for the Plundarr sword to handle and Mumm-Ra cried in pain as he was hit with the Omen’s power.

“You’ve caused death and destruction on our planet and Third Earth’s! You caused the ThunderCats separation! You killed fellow ThunderCat Tygra! You must pay for your crimes, Mumm-Ra!” Dante yelled and struck his sword against Mumm-Ra.

Mumm-Ra raised the Sword of Plundarr to protect himself. Unfortunately it split in half under the Sword of Omens. Mumm-Ra quickly kicked Dante in the stomach, sending him back but not down from the fight. Dante rose quickly to charge after Mumm-Ra again. They battle in swords and sorcery. Mumm-Ra shot energy blast from his hands at Dante who repelled and shot back with the powers from the Sword of Omens.

Lion-O watch on in amazement as he carried the fallen ThunderCats to safety away from the battle. Dante was handling himself very well. He fought like him when he battled against Mumm-Ra, but Dante seem to be a better fighter than him. He had his strength and battle wits, and Cheetara’s quick speed and reflexes. As he continued to fight, Lion-O noticed Mumm-Ra was gradually shrinking. His powers were fading away.

Cheetara had rushed inside to get the Totem of Dera. She used it on Lion-O and the others. They immediately awaken as the Totem’s powers were flashed on them, and while they wanted to join in the fight, Lion-O and Cheetara explained that they must Dante do this. He’s the strongest one to fight Mumm-Ra.

“It’s over, Mumm-Ra. You’ve lost.”

Mumm-Ra laughed arrogantly even though he knows he’s losing. “I’ll never lose to a half-breed like you. You’re nothing like your father.” He caught the Sword of Omens that Dante tried to hit him with.

“You’re right,” Dante agreed. “I’m stronger and faster than my father now and I have the power to defeat you! HO!” The energy from the Sword of Omens burned Mumm-Ra’s fingers.

Mumm-Ra pulled back weary from battle. “You may be stronger than me, but if I destroy this planet, you won’t live!”

“In your weakened state, you won’t live either,” Dante countered.

“It doesn’t matter to me. As long as you and the rest of the ThunderCats are gone, I don’t care where I go!”

Mumm-Ra summoned the last of his power to channel his energy throughout the planet. An explosion of energy left his body and traveled over Thundera. The ground beneath them began shaking under them, huge fissures formed in the ground, volcanoes erupted all over the planet, waves from the oceans crashed against homes on the seaboard, hurricanes and tornadoes arrived out of nowhere attacking the people as they run for shelter.

Pumyra screamed as a fissure opened under her and she started to fall. Bengali caught a hold of her hand and pulled her from the hole. They jumped away onto the steps of Cat’s Lair where the mighty fortress hadn’t yet begun to crumble.

“We’ve got to stop him!” Lion-O said as he and the ThunderCats jumped to avoid falling into the huge fissures surrounding them.

“No!” Cheetara shouted as the wind howled louder than their voices, their hair whipping across each other faces. “Dante can do this! I know he can!”

The wind slapped Dante’s face, but he held his ground as the earth around him opened up. Dante held the Sword of Omens at Mumm-Ra. “Sword of Omens! Eye of Thundera! Mother! Sister! Give me the power to destroy Mumm-Ra once and for all! HOOOOO!!!”

Dante summoned up some of energy in the sword to attack Mumm-Ra. Mumm-Ra too weak to escape took the full blast of all the sword’s power. Mumm-Ra screamed in pain as the Sword of Omens’ energy ripped through his body tearing in shreds. Another powerful blast and the last of his energy dissipate from Thundera.

Once Mumm-Ra’s energy was gone, the earthquakes, volcanoes, storms, hurricanes and tornadoes completely stopped. The oceans and sea returned to normal, the sky cleared and the sun found its way through the once darkened sky.

The ThunderCats look around as everything was being returned to normal, the fissures around them closed up as if it was never opened in the first place.

“He did it,” Duke Panthro said as looked around. “Dante did it. He defeated Mumm-Ra.”

“Mumm-Ra is completely gone.” WilyKat said. “No way he could survive that blast.”

“You’re right,” Cheetara said. “He’s—Dante!” Cheetara screamed as she raced to him lying on the ground. Cheetara sat him up. “Dante?” she slapped him gently.

Tyla rushed over to feel his pulse. “He’s all right. He’s alive. The blast must’ve knocked him out.”

Lord Lion-O walked over and looked down at his son. He smiled. “You did well, son. I’m proud of you.”

Dante’s eyes fluttered opened. He smiled. “We did it? Mumm-Ra’s gone.”

Cheetara nodded. “Mumm-Ra’s gone.”

Dante managed to stand up with his Cheetara’s help. “Sword of Omens, come to my hand.” The fallen sword flew to its master’s hand. Dante stepped away from the others to hold the Sword of Omens above his head. “HOOOO!!”

The Sword of Omens left Dante’s hand and hovered above everyone as it split in two and Lady Cheetara and Tamar’s body flew out. Tired from their battle with Mumm-Ra Lord Lion-O caught Lady Cheetara and Cheetara caught Tamar. The Sword of Omens flew to Lion-O’s and Dante’s hands.

Lady Cheetara and Tamar opened their eyes. “It’s over,” they asked tiredly.

“Yes, it’s over. Mumm-Ra is truly defeated. He will never return now,” Lord Lion-O said as he kissed his wife’s forehead. “Good job,” he looked at his daughter. “Both of you.”

Dante walked to his father to give him the Sword of Omens. Lord Lion-O waved it away. “No, son. I am no longer Lord of the ThunderCats. You are now. You’ve proven yourself in battle as the man to command Thundera now. My time has passed.” With one arm, Lord Lion-O handed Dante his Claw Shield.

Dante took the claw shield and sheath the Sword of Omens in it. “Thank you. I promise I won’t let you down.”

Lord Lion-O nodded. “With Mumm-Ra gone, this is a new day for all of us—a new era has begun in Thundera.”

Tamar slipped out of Cheetara’s arms and raced in Cat’s Lair. Cheetara wondered where she was going. Her thoughts were distracted when WilyKat spoke.

“With Mumm-Ra gone, I guess it time for us to get back to our time, but since we know what will happen, can’t we stop it?”

“No,” Lady Cheetara said slipping out of her husband arms to stand on her own. “Though your future will be horrible, you cannot stop it. It’s must happen.”

“It’s kind of a hard not to prevent it,” Pumyra said. “How we let Cheetara get in a coma? How can we let the ThunderCats spilt apart?”

“How can I die?” Tygra asked.

“We mourned for your loss, Tygra. He was a great comrade to us all, but in war, death is inevitable. Tygra fought valiantly against Mumm-Ra and his evil over the years. We’d like to prevent your future death, but we can’t alter history like that,” Lady Cheetara tried to explain.

Tyla placed a hand on Tygra’s shoulder. “I’ll mourn for my father’s loss, but I know it wouldn’t be right to save him. Besides, where he is, I’m sure he is happy and at peace.”

Tamar came running out of Cat’s Lair with a bracelet in her hand. She walked to her mother. “You know we have to do this.”

Lady Cheetara nodded. “Past ThunderCats, stand before me. It’s time to take you back to your time.”

The past ThunderCats looked at their future counterparts one more time and walked in front of the queen. Lady Cheetara put on the Bracelet of Power. She closed her eyes as if summoning her telekinetic powers. Her body had a yellow aura around he body. When she opened her eyes, they were glowing a bright yellow. She wiggled her wrist and the flashes of the bracelet caught the attention of the ThunderCats as they fell under it’s power.

“ThunderCats, you will have no memory of this adventure. You will not remember traveling to the future and seeing all of us. You will not remember Mumm-Ra’s defeat. You will return to your time and resume your normal lives. If should remember this, you will think of it as a dream and never reveal it to anyone. Do you understand?”

“Yes,” the ThunderCats said.

Lady Cheetara looked at Dante. He pulled out the Sword of Omens. “HO!!” A portal opened behind them.

“Go, ThunderCats. Return to your time and your peaceful lives and never remember what happened here.”

“Yes,” The ThunderCats said and entered the portal. After the last ThunderCat entered, the portal closed.

“There it’s done. They should have no memory of this,” Lady Cheetara said returning to her normal state.

*****

The ThunderCats arrived back in their lair of the past. They went to their bedrooms to sleep. When they woke up the next morning, they went about their normal business.

Lion-O entered the Control Room opening channels to Cat’s Lair on Third Earth. Snarf’s face popped up on the screen. “Morning, Snarf. How are things on Third Earth?”

“It was fine here, but how come answered the calls I made to Thundera yesterday. Where were you guys?”

“Yesterday?” Lion-O said scratching his head. “I had monitor duty last night…I guess I forgot.”

“Brrrr!” Snarf growled angrily. “Sure you forgot. That’s just like you Lion-O. Avoiding monitor duty so you can hang out with Cheetara. Who’s idea was it this time?”

Lion-O blushed and rubbed the back of his head nervously. “Aw, gee, Snarf, you know how it is when you have a girlfriend and,” he stopped for a second. “Um, maybe not since you don’t have a girlfriend.”

“HOW CAN I A GIRLFRIEND WHEN I HAVE TO WATCH OVER YOU?!” Snarf screeched over the monitor.

Lion-O chuckled and turned the communicator off. He knew he was going to hear it from his nursemaid later, but that didn’t bother him. Life was perfect and with Mumm-Ra trapped in the Book of Omens, it will continue to be perfect. Nothing would destroy their peaceful planet.
