True Deceit

Epilogue

A week later, the Thundercats stood together, dressed in black at a cemetery. They all stood somberly in front of the grave marked: Tygra, fellow Thundercat. The setting sun bathed an eerie glow around the tombstone.

“He was a good man before he lost his mind.” Cheetara commented.

“Yes, he was. He was….. a good friend before he lost it,” Lion-O added.

“He’ll be missed.” Panthro said.

“It was probably best that he died that way. No questions from the press.” WilyKit said.

“Telling the press that he died in an accident, testing the Thunderclaw was the best thing to say. That way, the press wouldn’t scrutinize him.”

“If only, we could’ve helped him,” Pumyra said with a tear in her eye.

“There was nothing we could do, Pumyra. Panthro tried to help him see the truth, but Tygra refused to listen. He wouldn’t leave his insane dream world. It was his only condolence.” Bengali said to comfort Pumyra.

“How could he have gotten so lost like that?” Snarfer asked.

“People are sometimes like that Snarfer. It’s sad to say that, but it is true, and there isn’t a way to help them. Only they could help themselves and Tygra obviously didn’t want it.” Lynx-O told the Snarf.

“Poor guy, Snarf.”

“Come on, guys. Let’s go. Let’s leave Tygra in peace.” Lion-O said. He turned around with Cheetara around him and walked, leading the others out.

Each Thundercat got in the black limousines and rode off. Two figures watch them from a distance. Once the Thundercats left, they enter the cemetery. One was a tiger woman in a white uniform pushing a man in a wheelchair. They stopped in front of Tygra’s grave.

“What an extraordinary life Tygra led.”

“Yes, it was. Second-in-command, most intelligent and best illusionist on Thundera. His time was cut short. He had much further to go…..if only he and Cheetara gotten together.”

“It’s over. Obviously, that will never be.”

The man lowered his head. “Yes, I see that.”

“Let’s go. You need your rest.” The woman said.

The male looked down at his legs. They were broken but not permanently damaged. They would soon heal. He looked at the grave marker: Tygra.

“Farewell, Tygra. You had an amazing and exciting life, and you blew it over a woman you deeply love, but never loved you back. Maybe somewhere deep down in your heart you knew that, but being blinded by love you didn’t see it or you just didn’t want to see it. Well, friend it’s time to go. This time of my life is over. It’s time I begin anew. A safer, happier life in peace and maybe someday love.”

“Will you miss the Thundercats?” the woman asked.

A smile appeared on the tiger’s face. “Of course I will. They were my friends for the longest times. In spite of everything, it was the best time of my life.”

The woman lean down and wrapped her arms around his upper body. “For now, but tomorrow begins a new day, a new life for you. Today the world thinks of you as Tygra, the Thundercat who died in a terrible accident, but tomorrow….who knows what they may think or what it may bring, but I see it as a promising and happier life.”

“Yes, I think you are right. Let’s go. I’ve been giving a second chance and I won’t waste it.”

The woman kissed Tygra’s right temple and turned the wheelchair around leaving Tygra’s old life and starting a new one.
