Ah yes, Runes. Unlike in legends I read, this power does not come solely from the inside. The magic comes from the power of the rune and the wielder's ability to use runes.

A list compiled after hours and hours of talking with Zamza.

-Magic Runes-

These runes are the most popular by weaker characters. These runes can be used to be manifested into any sort of attack based on the type of rune it is.

Fire Rune - A rune that uses fire-based attacks against multiple enemies. Extremely common.

Rage Rune - A much stronger version of the Fire Rune. A very rare rune. Zamza made it a point to show me exactly how strongly this one worked... several times.

Water Rune - A rune that uses water-based healing spells. Extremely common.

Flowing Rune - A much stronger version of the Water Rune. Very rare.

Lightning Rune - A rune that uses lightning-based attacks against single targets. Extremely common.

Thunder Rune - A much stronger version of the Lightning Rune. Very rare.

Earth Rune- A rune that uses earth-based magic for protection against both physical and magical attacks.

Mother Earth Rune - A much stronger version of the Earth Rune. Very rare.

Wind Rune - A rune that uses wind-based magic to cause all of (but weaker than the above runes) damage, magic defense, healing, and status-affecting magics.

Cyclone rune - A much stronger version of the Wind Rune.

Resurrection Rune - A Rune that channels Holy magic into both attack and curative magic. Works very well against the undead.

Darkness Rune - A rune that uses dark energy in potent attacks. Works well against the living, but extremely poorly against the undead.

Blue Gate Rune- A rune used to summon aid from another realm. The only way to equip a Blue Gate rune is on the head, which only the best magic-users can do.

Blinking Rune - A rune used to teleport enemies, allies, and others. Only the most adept

-Support Runes-

These Runes give no direct magical effects, but aid a fighter in an enhanced attack, usually.

Banshee Rune - A fairly rare rune that lets you user let out a piercing scream to drain the health of an ally or enemy. Rather nasty, as I hear.

Chimera Rune - Also a fairly rare rune, the Chimera Rune transfers status such as poison, berserk, etc. from the user to a welcome taker. Thus, an enemy cannot be a target.

Falcon Rune - An extremely rare rune that only the pair Anita and Valeria own from what I've seen. It causes a desperate attack that is somewhat easy to dodge, but extremely powerful.

Fire Dragon Rune - Zamza's own Rune. He claims to have created the rune himself and is the only person around that could wield it. And after watching him use it... several times... I believe him. Making his hands torches of fire, he pounds the enemy with incredible force. Unfortunately, the fire does damage to himself, also.

Gozz Rune - A common rune for axe users. It allows the user to take a long swipe through multiple targets, though at the end, they are either on the ground or have their axe stuck in a wall.

Howling Rune - An extremely rare rune that is used by beastmasters, like our own Badeux. When activated, the rune causes all ally monsters to go into a battle frenzy.

Kite Rune - A common rune for shuriken users. The attack comes by tossing multiple shurikens at all enemies, causing less damage than a singled-out attack.

Lion Rune - A rare rune for claw users. While the wielders of this rune increase their damage significantly, they take much more than they would without it.

Mayfly Rune - A Rune hailing from the Hidden Rokkaku. It is extremely rare and is only used by ninjas with claws. It attacks the entire front row, but like the Gozz Rune, it leaves the user unbalanced.

Pixie Rune - This common rune allows staff users to attack from a distance.

Rabid Fang Rune - This rune is incredibly rare. Only a handful are in existance and no Runemaster has been able to duplicate it, so Runemistress Jeane says. This rune allows for a self-induced transformation for werewolves.

Sylph Rune - Allows the user to give their own health to allies.

Titan Rune - A fairly common rune for brutish, two-handed sword users. While their damage is increased upon activation of this rune, they are significantly slowed.

Twin Ring Rune - A dancer's own rune. This rune allows the dancer to attack twice with incredible speed, but oftentimes, even the most swift-footed will loose their balance.

Unicorn Rune - Upon activating, the staff-user may attack entire columns of enemies by putting all their energy into their strike. This leaves them incredibly vulnerable for a little while from physical attacks.

Viper Rune - When activated, the Viper Rune aims the one-handed sword at the vitals of the enemy. If successful, the attack will instantly kill the target. Though, if it is ineffective, the attack will do minimal damage.

Above are the runes that must be activated in order to work. The below do NOT need to be activated, merely equipped.

Alert Rune - If the battle rages long enough, the wielder will become hyper and grow to want the battle to end soon. Fairly Rare

Balance Rune - The wielder has incredible balance and may never be unbalance, even by rune effects. Fairly Rare.

Barrier Rune - Blocks magic occassionally. Fairly Rare.

Counter Rune - When struck, the wielder will be more apt to strike back automatically. Very rare.

Double Strike Rune - All attacks are increased in damage, though damage taken is also increased. Rare.

Draining - Absorbs some damage from critical attacks. Uncommon.

Dryad Rune - Stronger attacks are available to those with Magic Runes. Very rare.

Fire Sealing Rune - Wielder takes no fire damage, but water damage is doubled. Very rare.

Firefly Rune - The wielder tends to be a more oft target in battle. Uncommon.

Fury Rune - The wielder is always berserk in battle. Extremely rare.

Gale Rune - Increases the wielders speed drastically. Uncommon.

Hazy Rune - All physical attacks go right through the wielder. Rare.

Killer Rune - Critical attacks are more easily done with the Killer Rune equipped. Uncommon.

Knight Rune - This rune makes it an automatic reflex for the wielder to defend weak allies. Uncommon.

Medicine Rune - This rune auto-uses medicine on any ally that is the target of a critical attack. Common.

Nymph Rune - Makes attacks completely dependent upon the wielder's luck. Rare.

Phero Rune - Makes the wielder appealing. Personally, I don't understand the use in such a rune, but apparently Zamza does. Extremely rare.

Prosperity Rune - Wielder is more apt to find larger amounts of money than others. Extremely rare.

Skunk Rune - The wielder may not be targeted. I wonder if the effect is caused by the idea I get from the rune's name? Extremely Rare.

Spark Rune - A rare rune that makes all allies pile on attacks immediately after the wielder's attack. Rare.

Sunbeam Rune - One of the rarest runes. It gives the wielder large amounts of health for ever step he takes.

True Holy Rune - Zamza says that this rune is not to be confused with a True Rune. It is Stallion's own rune that grants him his ridiculous speed.

Violence Rune - This rune is interesting. While the user's health takes a dramatic drop, the wielder does nearing five times the amount he normally would. Extremely rare.

Waking Rune - A rune that puts the user to sleep at the beginning of a battle. When the wielder is finally awakened, they are berserk.

Wall Rune - An extremely rare rune that allows the user to only defend, but their defense is raised by ridiculous amounts.

Warrior Rune - Significantly decreased defense, but increases strength.

Wizard Rune - Significantly decreased magic defense, but increases magic power.

-Weapon Runes-

These Runes, along with Magic Runes, may be embedded in a weapon to add to the attack.

Down Rune - Occassionally knocks down the enemy. Rare.

Exertion Rune - Strength increases as the battle goes longer. Extremely rare.

Fire Lizard - Like Zamza's Fire Dragon, though less effective as he claims fervently, the damage is increased, but the flame damages the wielder. Uncommon.

Kindness Rune - Attack increases as the wielder talks to more people. I personally bet Zamza would do well with this one. Very rare.

Magic Drain Rune - Restores some Rune Energy with a successful attack. Very rare.

Poison Rune - Poisons the enemy. Very common.

Sleep Rune - Causes a small chance to make the enemy fall asleep. Common.

Silence Rune - Causes a small chance to make the enemy fall into silence. Common.
