Nicholas, has a twin Brother, Kelly Donovan. Kelly is the older of the two. He and Kelly appear to have different last name, but that isn't so. They simply wish for their last name to remain private, which is cool, so they both use their middle names. He has two other brothers as well, Christian, and Kyle. Nicholas is engaged to actress/writer Tressa diFiglia.
He turned to acting when his dream of playing pro baseball was stomped out by a serious arm injury. His first TV gigs were a bunch of commercials and guest spots. Nicholas then decided to take a personal hiatus, from 'Hollywood' and try on some other jobs. For example: a medical student, production assistant, plumber's assistant, a delivery guy for food, as well as a script delivery guy, day care counselor, veterinary janitor, and waiter at many places. He pretty much, wasn't good at any of them, and he was fired from most of them. (Well, what can I say? Their loss is our gain)
