Other Supernaturals

The Myriad Others in Washington D.C.

Vampires. Shapeshifters. Mages. Each of these inhabits the World of Darkness, moving silently, unseen by mankind, and each pursues their own goals; goals that are unknown to mankind, or even to each other. Their numbers may not equal those of the other supernaturals, taken separately, but when added together, they make a powerful numbering indeed. And more importantly, their ways, their powers, even their very existence is often unknown to the other supernaturals. And this just lets them work all the more effectively. In the war for survival, the greatest weapon is one that cannot be seen.

D.C. does house some of these other supernaturals, as well as the groups collectively referred to as the Hunters. They fall under a variety of different wizards, and so guidelines may differ, as to what is required.

It may be prudent to speak to the Contact Wizard listed for each. This page will change often, especially in the Hunters sections, and so interested players should check often to see if there is a change.

Below are a listing of the Other Supernatural types. Unlike the other subpages, which list only the groups that have significant impact in the area, this lists all the subtypes, so that there can be no confusion.

Gypsies
The Romany move at the edges of society, never quite fully touching it. There's no plans to tie in the Gypsies to the Master Plot, but that doesn't mean that individual Gypsies might not be able to get involved. At this point, applications are being taken for Gypsies, with five slots available; enough for a single kumpania. Tsurara are discouraged, due to their hunter orientation, unless they can find enough people to apply with them to make up a full kumpania of Tsurara.

Numina
Characters with numina vary wildly, as virtually any human can in theory possess a psychic ability. There are currently slots available for numina characters. Such characters should be well-developed, and their application should reflect how their ability affects them, and has affected their past.

True Faith
People with True Faith are a rare thing in this day and age. Think about it...how many people do you know that live all the tenets of their religion completely, worship on a regular basis, and do so because they really believe, not just because they feel obligated to, or because it's the socially acceptable thing. Probably not many. However, keep in mind that True Faith is not a strictly Christian matter. One can have True Faith in any given religious belief, from Christianity to Native American Animism, to Hinduism or Wicca. There are 4 slots available for True Faith characters at this time. Applications should include why your character is so religious ("He just is" is not acceptable), and should relate what he does on a regular basis to maintain that faith.

Sorcerers
D.C. is the sort of place that Hedge Magicians thrive. The people are generally willing to at least marginally accept that it might exist, and a number of shops in the city sell the right sorts of supplies for such things. Sorcerers of all different paths will be considered, although your application should cover how your character learned his magic in the first place. This isn't the sort of thing they teach in college. There are slots available at this time.

Inquisition
The Society of Leopold are the hunters of the supernatural. For 700 years, they have sought to save humanity, by destroying anything of the supernatural they encounter. At this point, there are no members of the Inquisition in the city, and thus, no applications are being taken. However, this situation will change when the first PC makes a mistake that leaves any evidence that they would notice, and send agents to investigate. Ergo, watch this spot; it's likely to change soon.

Arcanum
This society of watchers maintains chapterhouses all around the world, and given a city with so many New Age influences and religious beliefs, they have one here, as well. It's a small house, with only 8 members, and at the beginning of the game, these members are unaware of the true supernatural events in the area. It's up to the players to discover what's happening, through roleplay. Beware, though. Some things that hide in the shadows prefer to remain there. Applications should include how you first learned of the Arcanum, and what drew you to it. What skills do you possess that made them consider you worthy of membership?

Ghouls and Revenants
The servants of the Cainites exist in D.C. as well. As always, Ghouls provide a vampire with his or her 'daytime eyes' as well as valued support. The application is to be the same as that for a vampire, just with the obvious changes.
