We have the webspace we need to keep the music up, but the problem we're running into, is we only have 3 GB of bandwith a month. We have already used almost 5 GB in the last two weeks. When the bandwith runs out for the months, the songs won't play anymore until we either purchase more bandwith, or the month passes. We have at least 100 people hitting the site everyday, so that's a lot of music going out. I haven't figured out about what it's gonna cost for the extra bandwith yet, but it's running $3 per GB, and if we use 1 a day, that's an additional $30 a month to keep the music up. That is way more than we can afford. We have paid for the webspace, it's just the bandwith. We can move the music again to another server, but that would mean time to get everything transferred, and getting everything organized all over again, and a lot of you just updated everything, so by changing servers you would have to change it again. It also will be $140 to get the new server. It is unlimited bandwith, and has a lil more space than what we're working with now, so it would be a benefit.
If we stick to the server we have now, we may have to start asking for a small one time membership fee to access the music, so we are able to keep the server up and running. The other option is if people could make donations, any amount will help, even just $1, we can get the new server setup, and not have to worry about the bandwith issues. We could have another option, too, and that is if people have webspace that they do not need, and has unlimited bandwith, with the ability to hotlink (ie: use images or music on a site other than the webspace or host itself), and would be willing to donate it for the music files, that can help, too.
We enjoy providing the music for you to use, and want to continue, but without donations, the music may only be available a few days a month. We want the music to be available 24/7 , with no interruptions. We plan on continuing to bring you lots of new music, and try to stay on top of your requests, though sometimes it may take a while, or we are unable to find them. We now have a total of 121 music files on our main server, and a few others on a couple of smaller free spaces. We can't put all the files into free space, cause there are too many, and most free spaces will not allow hotlinking. Freespace is also unreliable, as we already learned the hard way.
