Hugging in the Pyrenees on top of a 300 metre ascent which we climbed. We had a picnic here and rested to admire the view, before descending again. It is truly a pretty place. Will have to go and see the Spanish side one day.
This village, Balacet, is at the bottom of the mountain we climbed. There are goats, sheep and dogs walking in the middle of the road without a care in the world, and people really do live in these little cottages!
This lake in the pyrenees, Lake Bethmale, is very surreal. Looking into it, you're suddenly unsure about whether you're looking at the surroundings, or the lake. The reflection is as perfect as a mirror. We walked all around it, and although it was cold, it was a very beautiful place to be.
And here is the picture in question.... is it the right way up, or not? Click on it and decide for yourself!

What a cute couple :) Simone and Sebastien hooked up with each other and travelled around France over the new year. We met up with them in Toulouse on the 3rd of January, 2001 and went to the Pyrenees with them. Here they are at lunch in St Girons.
Yves sat on a grave in the village of Balacet (pictured above) to get this fantastic shot...glad he's not superstitious,...I could never have done that.. eww. Anyway, the picture is very nice, don't you think?
While in the Pyrenees, we stayed in the village of St Girons. We were there in the first week of January, 2001, which is off-peak time for tourism, so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. We ate at a nearby restaurant, and this is the view from the balcony of the restaurant where we were having lunch that day.
