Yves in Summer 2000 at Hillend. This is the view from the top of the ski slope at the part where you are allowed to hike. This day was nice and sunny, hence the t-shirt!
After the snow storm in mid February, we took advantage of the sunshine, to go and climb around the hills in the borders of Edinburgh, at the Ski Slope in Hillend.
Half way up the part of the ski slope where you can hike, the view is already beautiful and you can already see so much. The view shows from left to right: Crammond, Bruntsfield, Morningside, Edinburgh Castle. Across the other side of the Forth is the county of Fife.
Trudging up the ski trail, the fresh snow is a bit slippery but the exercise seems to make the cold air not so bad, and the view from the top will certainly be worth the effort. Besides, at the end of it all, we can drive 5 minutes towards Easter Howgate and call into the Flotterstone Inn for a nice mug of hot chocolate with marshmallows and cream.

Getting closer to the top. This is the view looking to the right of Hillend, which shows Penicuik and surrounding areas.
At last we made it to the top and the view is beautiful, of course!!
