Items to be discussed:
Are there any problems or concerns from the parents in the pack or leadership?
Opening: It is the cubmaster's job to bring a boy to standards and help leaders. Keep parents informed. Run a successful pack. Besides the den meetings and pack meetings, we meet each month for round table and leader's meetings. Parents are more than welcome to come to these meetings also. The last pinewood derby was discussed and that there were a couple of parents that were not happy at this event. Because soccer, etc. was scheduled at the same time and the boy(s) were only able to race a couple of times. It was also explained the progression of planning over the last few years. Last year the event lasted at least 5 hours and many were very tired by the end of the day. This is one event that is difficult to plan.
Questions and Answers:
Q: How long does the pinewood derby last? A: It can vary. There is a computer program that takes the number of cars and how many races and figures each race.
Q: What if you register on Saturday and race on Sunday? A: Possibility, as long as it doesn't interfere with church. Someone also has to come open up the school on both days.
(Parent - "No matter what, someone won't be happy." "Let the child choose between activities. Scouts is an introduction for kids into adulthood and making decisions in society."
It was decided that a critique sheet will be made up and passed at next pack meeting and put on the website.
