Newcastle boss Bobby Robson is in a race with Leeds United to sign Australian star Brett Emerton according to reports.
The midfielder is currently one of the most sort after players in the world, despite the £15 Million price tag around his head.
Emerton is currently at Feyenoord where he has become a star. He is a tough tackling, box to box player who has a reputation has one of the best currently in the world.
It is understood that Bobby Robson is keen on the player, although he isn't prepared to pay anything near the asking price. Robson is hoping that Feyenoord will accept a lower bid in the region of £10 Million for the player. That said, it is reported that Leeds United are the favorites to sign him. The Yorkshire outfit also aren't prepared to pay the asking price, but the Australian connection at Elland Road may prove to be the deciding factor in Emerton joining the club.
