Hartlepool sneaked into the Thrid Division play-off semi-finals on the final day of the season as they won 2-0 at Exeter and rivals Shrewsbury lost. The results meant Pools' reached the play-offs and a tie against Cheltenham on the tightest of margins, on goal difference.

A delighted Chris tUrner said "The team have been tremendous and although it was never easy, we were well within ourselves and we got what we needed.

"We’re now in the play-offs for the third year in a row which I think is a tremendous achievement for the football club. We come back in on Monday morning and start work again and now we look to try and beat Cheltenham.

Turner also thanked the fans saying “The fans have been great today – they have been all season. They’ve stuck with us when we were bottom of the league and now we’ve paid them back.”
