Newcastle boss Bobby Robson hopes to wrap up a permanent deal for loan signing Slyvain Distin over the next few days, despite interest from two unnamed European clubs.
Distin has impressed since joining the Magpies’ on loan until the end of the season last summer.
The player’s club Paris Saint Germain are also keen to tie up a permanent deal, and are now said to be waiting for Newcastle to make an offer.
Distin himself wants to make things permanent as soon as possible, but it is understood to be unhappy about Newcastle seemingly stalling on the move.
Bobby Robson yesterday admitted he has held talks with Freddy Shepherd about signing the Frenchman on a long term deal, and the move is now said to be in his hands.
