Well, if you don't know it already, NES Faucet was around about 8 months ago or so. I started the site one night in the midst of hackings that were occurring on various other NES sites, as a way of saying to the hackers, "Hey, fuck you, try and bring me down," and it just sort of snowballed from there. I needed something catchy for the site name: FlowingMindspin's NES... something. I was going to go with Nebula or Nexus, or something of the sort. My friend, Riding Bean, however, suggested I use something that starts with "F". What word starts with F? Hell, we sure didn't know, so we both whipped out our dic-(I know what you're thinking, perverts)-tionaries, and still had no luck. Then, he suggested something to do with water, since my Internet moniker does have the word "flow" in it. I couldn't think of a damn thing. He suggested "facuet," and it stuck. I wish I still had a picture of my original banner. He said my faucet looked "ghetto". I also wish he was still around. Last I know, he was fleeing to Europe to escape the law (no kidding), and I haven't heard from him since he took refuge with his uncle in Massachusetts. I hope you're not in jail, buddy.
I started off on Stormpages (where I am now), but I eventually talked J.D. Turbeville into hosting me on Myrmid. I was excited, to say the least, so I kept on updating. Actually, my site didn't have much. Just reviews I already had done (which you can now find at NES Player), and a few short "articles" on various topics that were mostly related to the NES scene. I had plans for contests, plans for live-action comics (which I actually started, but never put up), and a few other surprises which I just may bring back in this incarnation. The problem was, I wanted to start off too big, and I burnt myself out. I didn't update for me, I updated for everyone else. Basically, it became a chore. It wasn't fun.
After being on Myrmid for a matter of weeks I believe it was, I got hacked. Yep, I used the same password for two things, one of which had a security breach, and the other of which was my website. So, after that I became frustrated, and decided to call it quits. After all, I was still writing for the now-defunct Game Frenzy. But, as time went on, more than a few people wanted me to bring the site back.
A few months ago I put up a dummy index page and said "Look everyone, I'm bringing it back!" but I really had no intentions of doing so. Still, people just never forgot about it. So, here I am. Making a page about a system that's been dead for about a decade, and not really knowing if anyone will really care about it. So, instead of doing this for all of you out there (yes, that means you reading this), I'm doing it for me. I'm using it as a way to channel my anger and rage with the world and my family into something somewhat constructive that doesn't take too much effort. Hence the simple layout. So, I don't know how long this will last, but I hope it's a bit more enjoyable this time.
