Contact You may write, call, or e-mail Reverend Mother Prioress for more information. Often, aspirants visit our monastery for a weekend to meet with Reverend Mother and the community.
Live-In Aspirants may make a live-in period in the enclosure as part of the community for up to three months. This gives the community and the aspirant time to get to know each other and to discern the possibility of entrance as a postulant. After the live-in you return home to make application to enter, if you so choose.
Postulant The postulancy is one year. During this time, you become familiar with the daily horarium and lifestyle of our community and are under the care and guidance of the Novice Mistress.
Novitiate After a year as a postulant, you will receive the religious habit and your religious name. This step is the beginning of your consecrated life. You will be a novice for two years. Much time in the novitiate is devoted to the study of Carmelite spirituality, the Carmelite Rule, and to the study of Scripture.
Temporary Vows After the novitiate, you may be accepted for First Profession. You will make vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience for a year at a time for three years. For the first two years, you remain in formation under the care of the Novice Mistress, but in the last year, you are encouraged to live more autonomously under the care of the Prioress.
Solemn Profession After six years if you discern you have a true vocation to Carmel and are accepted by the community you make final solemn vows and receive the black veil. You are a full member .
