Little information is available for Michael and how he is related to the Waltrip clan, but because of dates and places of residence, it appears that Michael Waldroper was the father of James, John, Luke, Michael and Joseph.
According to the "SCOTTISH GENEALOGIST", a Michael Wardroper came from Scotland to America and received a land grant in VA in 1699 of 90 acres in King William Co, VA. Father of John.
Michael (see page 229 of "WALDROP REF. BOOK") was assigned in June 1699, 90 acres, land that he was already on.
Does not say when he came to the land. Also see page 145 for information on the 90 acres. 1712-Joseph and Michael Walldrup got a land grant of 100 acres in King William Co, VA. in 1712. In 1715 he got 100 acres. In 1682 a WM Claiborne received land for transport of a Michael Wardrope.

(Notes by David P. Smith) 1. Luke was in Hanover Co, VA in 1734. He received a Land Grant in Granville Co, NC in 1749. He bought land in Laurens Co, SC in 1772. He left a Will but it has not been found. 2.
The documenation that Luke of Hanover Co, VA and Granville Co, NC was the same person is that he made his 'mark' the same way. 3. John, James, Joseph and Jechonias are documented sons of Luke. Family Tradition says that Mary Ann was Luke's daughter. Circumstantial evidence indicate that Luke, Jr. was Luke's son.
(Notes World Family Tree Pedigree #6344 (1995): Luke and his wife Christian made their first home in Amelia Co, VA, where their neighbors included various Waldrep relatives. They moved to Granville Co, NC, in or before 1760 and received several land grants from John Earl Granville. All their children were born in Virginia and appear to have been reared thee. About 1760, there began the Waldrep migration into North Carolina and from there to South Carolina in 1771 and then Georgia and Texas.

John Glover's Company, Granville Co, NC, Militia on 8 Oct 1754 3. John was granted an Attachment on the Estate of Benjamin Wheatly in Granville Co, NC on 2 Dec 1755. 4. John was on the 1755 and 1769 Tax lists of Granville Co, NC and he received 400 acres Land Grant in Granville Co, NC on 9 March 1761. John and wife Milicent sold 480 acres to Samuel Snead in Granville Co, NC on 15 Feb 1764. (This may not be the same John). John and Wife Tabitha deeded land to John Fullilove in Granville Co, NC on 7 Oct 1770. 5. John served in the South Carolina Light Dragons under Philemon Waters, Lt. Col. Will of John Waldrop: In the Name of God. Amen. I, John Waldrope of Newberry Co, Ninety Six District, State of South Carolina, being in perfect mind and memory, thanks be given unto God, calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament that, that is to say: Principally and first of all, I gived and recommend my spirit into the Hand of Almighty God who gave it me, and my body. I recommend to the earth to be buried in a Christian burial at the discretion of my Executors, nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same bythe Mighty Power of God. And as touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me with in this life, I give, devise, and dispose of the same in the following manner and form....
Item. I lend unto my beloved wife Tabe Waldrop during her widohood all the use of two hundred acres of land and the plantation thereon, and also all the household furiture of all kinds, and all the stock: Horses, cattle and hogs and all othr articles of all kinds tht I now possess. And if my beloved wife Tabe Waldrop should ever marry, the property lent to her shall be taken from her in the manner and form as follows, that is to say: I give and bequeath unto my beloved sons: Ezekiel, Zekiah, Stephen, David, William, Isaac, and John Waldrop all my land including of two hundred acres to be divided after my beloved Tabe Waldrop's death, or widowhood, the said land to be sold at four years credit and the moneh to be equally divided amongst the seven above-mentioned sons. And all my stock of horses, my desire is to be equally divided between Ezekiel, Hezekiah, William, Isaac and John Waldrop after widowhood or death of their mother Tabe Waldrop. I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughters: Ann Elizabeth, Tabey, and Judey Waldrop all my stock of cattle, hogs, and sheep, and household furniture of all kinds, to be eqully divided after my beloved wife Tabe Waldrop's death or widowhood.
And my desire is that if Ezekiel Waldrop should die before his children marry and robert shall come of age, the money shall be kept by the Executors until the said children should come of age. And I also give and bequeath unto my beloved daughters Christian Pitts and Sarah Campbell one feather bed apiece which they have now in their possession. And my desire is for all my just debts be paid out of the money that I have now by me. I likewise constitute, appoint, and ordain my two well beloved friends, Charles Griffin and Stephen Waldrop, my sole Executors of this my Last Will and Testament. And I do hereby disallow, revoke, and disannul all and every other former Testaments, Wills, and legacies, bequeaths, and Executors by me in any wise before named, willed and bequeathed, ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament.
