Notes for Samuel Harrison Branson McEwen Byrd:
Samuel lived his childhood life in Hardin County, Tennessee. At some point he and his family moved to Calloway County, Kentucky, where he met and married his wife, Martha Isabel Pendleton. After several children, Isabel died in childbed. At her death, Sam went into deep mourning and seemed not to be happy for some time. He remarried a few years afterward to Fannie Willoughby Clayton, Isabel's aunt by marriage. After her death, he decided to follow his daughter Ethel to Independence, Missouri. He then followed them to California where he lived until he died.
Notes of Russell Green (son of Ethel Byrd) claims that Samuel was born in Camden, Madison Co, Mississippi. I have been trying to verify this claim, but have come up with nothing so far. However, Samuel did live with Russells family in the last 10 years of his life, so, he would be in a better position to know. Make sure to talk to Russell regarding this issue.
The 1900 census of Calloway Co., Ky says that Sam is born in Alabama, and the 1910 says Mississippi.

Graveside rites were held this afternoon at Westside Cemetery for Ivie Milton Phillips, 111 Harrison stret,who died Friday in a local hospital after a lengthy illness.
A native of Tennessee,Mr Phillips was born Oct.20,1903.
He had lived in this community for the past 25 years and was retired from Loffland Brothers Driling .
He is survived by his wife, Frances;two daughters Patricia Hutchison of Arizona and Joan Sinclair of Santa Barbara, and six grandchildren.
Glen Lloyd of the LDS Church Oficiated at the rites. The New Taft Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
