 -- Cadets in Germany --

Ten D Company cadets spent ten days of July in Munster, Germany courtesy of the Army Careers. The lads, part of a thirty strong group paid £20.00 to have the chance to get a look at Army life.

During their time in Germany, the cadets spent three days with the Royal Dragoon Guards (A Tank Regiment),  three days with the Irish Guards, and two days off relaxing.

Whilst with the Royal Dragoon Guards the cadets had the opportunity to drive the Challenger Tank and try out the Computer controlled Simulators used to train the crews in finding and destroying targets.

During the days off the cadets spent time sight seeing in Munster and visited the Army Yatch Club at Drumersee, other Leisure activities included go-karting, paint balling and five-a-side football.

The Irish Guards laid on a two day exercise, which had been blessed with scorching heat. During the exercise the cadets got their hands on Motars, the Milan Anti-tank weapon, Sniper rifles, they got the chance to use thermal imaging scopes, and finally they took part in fire and manoeuvre exercises and Ambushes using the S.A. 80 AND L.S.W.s.

If you are interested in a career in the army, keep and eye out for the trip to Germany next year. You have to be sixteen years of age and at 2 star level. You must have your own passport.
