Katie: A cognac, please. Very superior, old pale. You look like you could use something stronger than a beer. May I buy you a drink?
Simon: No. I'm fine. Thanks anyway.
Katie: Oh, don't worry, I'm not hitting on you, Simon.
Simon: I'm sorry. Do I know you?
Katie: Another cognac for my friend? It's on me. And, no. You don't really know me. But I know you. And a very wise man recently told me that cognac is the perfect drink for people in our shoes.
Simon: Our shoes? What do you mean?
Katie: Well, like I said, I know who you are. And you and I have a lot more in common than you realize.

Simon: I think I remember you now. You were at the -- yeah, the opening night party for the casino. You work for Holden, right?
Katie: Yeah, I used to. Good memory. And good job getting off that island. I heard all about it. Hey, you might not have won a million bucks, but it must have been a pretty interesting adventure, huh?
Simon: Yeah. Yeah, that it was.
Katie: Mind if I offer some vital advice?
    Simon: Advice about what?
Katie: Lily and Holden's marriage. Holden and I have gotten pretty close over the last several months, and there's something that I've learned about those two. Lily and Holden always find their way back to each other, no matter what. They've been married, divorced, married to other people. I don't know why, I don't know how, but they always find their way home.
Simon: I'm sorry, but why do you think this has got anything to do with me?
Katie: I have eyes, Simon. And ears. And I know it makes you sick to your stomach to think of those two together. Especially knowing that you were just a passionate pit stop, just a supporting player in the little games that they play.
Simon: Look, you have no idea about my situation.
    Katie: Oh, you think so?
Simon: Lily and I spent months together away from civilization, just the two of us. I think I know her better than anyone, and what we shared --
Katie: Oh, no, oh, no. No, I know this one by heart. Believe me. I used to think that Holden and I shared the same kind of bond. But let me tell you the truth about Lily Snyder. Nothing is ever gonna erase from her mind the memory of that young, reckless stable boy.
Simon: What, you think I'm afraid of a memory? Look, that is all in the past.
Katie: Yeah, but you know what they say. What's past is prologue.
Simon: No. What's past is past. Look, I'm only concerned about the future.
Katie: Well -- don't say I didn't warn you. Enjoy your cognac. And good luck with Lily. No, I mean it. Really. Because if you actually do end up with her, that way we all get what we want. Good night.
