Soap Opera Weekly - June 18, 2002 Jennifer's love life takes a nosedive this week on Days of Our Lives, when Brandon breaks things off with her and then she catches Jack kissing Sami. After Jennifer and Brandon's disasterous weekend getaway - where Sami accuses her of stringing along Brandon, Colin and Jack - Jennifer returns to Salem and has a heart-to-heart with Alice. "Jennifer tells her grandmother that if Sami hadn't given it to her in her face, she wouldn't have realized [what she was doing]," explains Melissa Reeves (Jennifer). "Although Jennifer's intention were not to string anyone along. She has Horton values. She wants to be married and have this stable family unit. She's just been searching for love, searchng for someone she feels could give her this commitment and this family she wants." By the end of her talk with Alice, "Jennifer realizes she needs to get over her fears and make a choice," adds Reeves. Meanwhile, across town, Sami tells Brandon that Jennifer ran off to save Jack at the bed and breakfast. Brandon heads over to the Brady Pub to tell Jennifer it's over. "It's a really sweet scene," relates Reeves. "Deep down, Jennifer and Brandon know [this relationship] isn't what they hoped it would be, but they were trying to make a go of it. Their hearts are in different places. Their hearts are with two very unstable people. They were trying to find stability and thought that maybe it could be with each other." Later, Sami encourages Jack to make a play for his ex-wife, but Jack says he's through chasing after Jennifer, and he proves it by kissing Sami. Unfortunately, Jennifer walks in and catches them. "At first, Jennifer thinks that this is another one of Jack's games," shares Reeves. "She's like, 'Very funny, you planned this. You saw me standing there.' But Jack says, 'I didn't see you standing there. I did it because I wanted to do it and it felt good.'" The awkward moment awakens something in Jennifer. "It's not jealousy. She's hurt that Jack may be moving on. Deep down, Jennifer was hoping he would wait until she figures everything out." Jack admits that he wants a future with Jennifer and Abby, but says he is giving up on her - she'll have to come to him if she is interested. "These scenes were so sad," sighs Reeves. "Matt and I were crying. Jennifer and Jack try to be brave. They try to put on fronts, but they end up pouring their hearts out." When the tears subside, the two agree to confine their relationship to the Spectator business. "They've stopped playing games," concludes Reeves. "They're restarting from a clean slate. They're actually starting from the beginning, where they were years ago. They're working together closely in the same place [they fell in love]. Maybe their passion for the newspaper and for news will bring them back together." Or maybe the headline will read "SPLIT!". |
