The following pieces of infromation come directly from the constitution of Sigma Phi Chi:

Sorority Verse:

"Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace.  And be thankful.  Let the word of Chirst dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.  And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to the Father through him."   Colossians 3:15-17 (NIV)

Colors:

The colors of Sigma Phi Chi are green and silver and stand for growth and purity.  The green
reminds us that we always have room to grow in our relationship with God, our sorority sisiters
and little brothers, and those outside the sorority, as well as to grow as individuals.  The silver
reminds us of the pure life that Jesus Christ led and that we should continually desire a pure life
for ourselves as well.

Symbols:

Our symbols are the Ichtus and the white lilly.

Motto:

Our motto is "Faithfulness in serving Him."

Purpose:

Sigma Phi Chi exists to form an ecumenical sisterhood of women who glorify Jesus Christ with their lives and who strive to follow His perfect example, by promoting love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentelness, and self-control.  The women of Sigma Phi Chi desire to grow in wisdom, stature, and spirit through affirmation and admonishment of one another.  By upholding these ideals through group accountability, we promote service, fellowship, and loyal sisterhood.  Individual relationships with our Lord, Jesus Christ, are the foundation of Sigma Phi Chi, and this foundation is sustained through individual and community prayer.  We embrace all who desire to know Christ and rejoice in the diversity of the world community as represented at Austin College.  By affirming and holding one another accountable, we hope to develop balance within our sorority.  With continual prayer, we aspire to build lasting relationships and to become joyful, respectful, confident, reverent, and dedicated women in all areas of life.

Foundations of Faith:

Sigma Phi Chi has adopted the Apostle's Creed.  The Apostle's Creed is universal to all
Christian faiths, and Sigma Phi Chi has cited the Presbyterian version:

We believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.  We believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurection of the body; and the life everlasting.

*the word "catholic" is used in this context to mean universal
