Spina dragons speak their own tongue, a tongue common to all dragons, at 25% of hatchling spina dragons have an ability to communicate with any intelligent creature. The chance to possess this ability increases 8% per age category of the dragon. The dragon prefers to be in its dragon form. When it finds it necessary to change forms, it prefers the form of various felines, or humans.
Spina dragons like the company of talkative and forward creatures. Silent ones rather annoy the creature. It is at times moody and gets easily annoyed. If someone it has taken a liking to is in danger or attacked it will defend it, regardless of alignment.
Spina dragons are fast moving and elegant dragons. As it flies the long body moves like a snake, carried by the long wings. Their scences are very well developed, and can smell land feel with the secretive scenes in their nostrils movement around them. This due to change in the air and ground.
These dragons are highly magic, and casts spells at 10th level. Thus they have a great innate resistance against elemental magic, as much as 50%. They have a regeneration's factor of 1d12 per turn.
Spina dragons are part energy dragons, this making them, if necessary use energy attacks, this being the only form of magic they do use. Them being energy dragons explain the old age they can achieve, up to 4000 years old they have known to get. But due to this they can reproduce seldomly, and are in very few numbers.
COMBAT: Spina dragons never attack any creature without a good reason for it. Normally these dragons would not do any first attacks, rather wait for their opponent to strike first. But they are clever dragons and their tactics are often varying depending on the situation. They often use magic and breathweapon in fights. They only use claws and tail of the opponent is particularly weak one and use of energy is not needed at all. These dragons would try not to bite in a fight.
BREATH WEAPON: A Spina dragon has two breath weapons:
The first is a fire based breath weapon: at base an invisible fluid of pure oxygen is sprayed out. This is made from air that is breathed in, easily done in the lungs of the dragon by excreting certain enzymes. From the nostrils a highly explosive fluid is spayed out, igniting the oxygenate fluid. The reaction has an effect of a blue and red flame that twists in a cone like spiral. The length of the spiral is at 120ft and with at mouth is about 4ft, width at base expanding to somewhat near 30ft. The blue flames have an intensity that is comparable to a blowtorch, and would burn through steel.
The second breath weapon is a cylinder of acid: the black acid that is sprayed out from the mouth has an acidic effect that burns through any known metal, or material less than metals armor class. The acid is made in glands positioned in the dragons throat. As air is drawn in the lungs to propel the acid, a fluid is produced in the the stomach. This fluid is the same pH as the other acids who devour the food in the stomach. However during the producing of this fluid all oxygen is drawn from it. The deoxygenated fluid is pressed up from the stomach as firing, as it touches the acidic glands it reaches and the acid level is duplicated to its Max effect, changing its color from blank to black. The cylinder of acid that is breathed out has a length of 200ft, a width at mouth and base of 4ft. Since there is no oxygen in the acid it does not break out from the cylinder shape and can be, with great perfection aimed and hit only even small targets. Its duration is for two rounds the cylinder follows a straight line from the jaws.
Spina dragons are immune to heat( fire,lava,etc.), and acid ** polymorph self ** five times per day. As they age they gain the following additional powers:

Spina dragons are friendly to most creatures that return that favor. They can however find it amusing to paly with people minds.
ECOLOGY: Spina dragons consume a diet of spina crystals, magnesium and also a small amount of coal. They also eat meat in-between
Spina dragons will not hesitate to help any creature if it feels it's help is needed, it does not back away from an opponent no matter what the alinement or size.
