Meeting Rules
These meeting rules will be listed in each and every monthly issue of "Scouting Headlines". If we all strive to follow these simple rules, we can all benefit and grow in our scouting experiences.
1. Meetings start on time
2. Hand out an agenda/minutes/notes.
3. One person has floor/speaks at a time.
4. Raise hand for floor recognition for comments or questions.
5. BE POSITIVE!

Sock Hop
Junior Troop 1471 is working on their Bronze Award and sponsoring a Sock Hop for all age level Girl Scouts. Put on your poodle skirt, roll up your jeans, and get ready to dance the evening away at the Hop! The event will be held at the National Guard Armory. See flier and commercial during the March meeting.
Summer Sizzler
Registration begins on March 1. Registrations received prior to March 1 will be processed on March 15. Please note that 12 year olds will be in the sessions with 10-11 year olds.
Camp Occoneechee
Correction: Open House is May 5th, not May 4th as stated in the camp brochure. Grade listed in the brochure is the grade the girl will be in the fall of 2002.
Me and My Gal
Keepsake Critter event on March 23 at Mountain Springs Baptist Church from 2 – 4 PM. Moms and daughters that have ordered their keepsake critter will create a special memory together. Questions? Contact Gloria H. 704-624-3306 or beeper 704-289-0730.

Cadette/Senior Recognition Ceremony
May 19, 2002!
Final report for Gold Awards must be turned in by March 15 and Silver Awards by April 15, 2002 to receive awards at the ceremony in May.
Board Scholarships
Applications are due March 15, 2002.
Adult Awards Gala
Thursday, April 25, 2002 at new location - Zion Renaissance Center. If you know of any adult Girl Scout Alumni that would like to attend, send their name, address, phone number (and e-mail if you have) to Louise W. Remember graduating Senior Girl Scouts will also be invited. "Celebrate 90 Years of Memories".
Linking Girls Together
We will be having the event at Monroe Mall, Sears Corridor March 12, 2002, 7:00 p.m. $1 per girl Registrations and $$ to be given to Gloria H. at the tonight's meeting. They will be forwarded to Lynette A. of Union 1. Our districts will be united for this event.

Sunday afternoon Trainfest to be held on Sunday, March 17th at the Service Center from 2 – 5 PM. Check out the Sidewalks to Treetops class! If you have not taken your age level training or if you are changing levels next year, this is a great opportunity. Remember to register at least 1 week in advance.

Girl Scouts of Western Pisgah Council is offering a class in July. Contact Louise W. if interested.

Cookie questions – call Janet S. at 704-731-6528. Dialing old numbers will give you a message that directs you to the new number. The fax line and 800 number and program information line remains the same.
April is Child Abuse Awareness Month
Join others as they remember and honor all those who have been victims of Child Abuse on Tuesday, April 23, 2002 at 7:00 at the Girl Scout Service Center. There will be a candlelight ceremony including songs, time of reflections and the opportunity for girls to write messages to victims of child abuse. Daisy, Brownie, and Orientation are available for home study. Orientation is available online at www.hngirlscouts.org
Safety Wise Update
The update for the new Safety Wise in online at www.hngirlscout.org.
If you have not attended this update training, please register and complete the training online. If you have had the training, but would like a refresher, you may take the course online, but there is no need to register.
Training made Easy
Training made easy for you! Home study videos are available for Daisy and Brownie age level training. Orientation can now be completed online at www.hngirlscouts.org.
Pre-Register
Please remember to pre-register for training's at council at least one week in advance.
Sign up for adult training by: Council web site, fax, mail or drop off at council.
If you register on line, may be a good idea to call council and verify dates and times of training. There have been a few errors on training schedules, so avoid the unnecessary trip to Charlotte, and confirm.

April 19 - 21, 2002, program fee due with registration.
Final Cookie Reports
Due to Angie B. no later than March 15th by 4:00 PM. She will be out of town after that point. So, get your reports in as early as possible.
