When Gloria H. was the Brownie Consultant, she gave us an idea to use Brownie Bucks as incentives to get the girls to do things that were important to the troop. These were then spent at a store held at the end of the year. We tried this in our troop by picking 3 things that were important (being on time, in uniform, bringing dues). Girls were given 1 "Scout Tinder" dollar for doing each of these (during roll call). One could be taken away for disruptive behavior. We also printed some equal to 5 "Scout Tinders" which we use for special things during the year. Last year, girls who memorized the Promise and Laws earned these. We had girls showing up on time who never had before and they had a great time spending the "money" at the end of the year. Absent girls received 1 "Scout Tinder" if they called and let us know they weren't coming. Troop #1273. |

It can be very helpful from an administrative standpoint to give each parent a troop handbook containing information concerning meetings, troop policies, fundraisers and any other general information you want to include at the beginning of each year. This can save you a lot of time and also gives There are links to several samples here. Gloria H. sent us a copy of the one she used for her Brownie troop. I am also including links to several found on the internet. This one is very broad and even covers types of sleeping bags. Another good general sample. |
