Yap Ye Iswa Festival -- York County, S.C.
This event is held annually the first Saturday after Thanksgiving. If you're looking for a great educational and fun way to spend the day with your troop, this is a theevent. We took our troop last year and they want to go back this year. Admission is only $1 and they have food for sale for reasonable prices. You can also take your own. They have Native American dancing and music (girls can participate), pottery demonstrations, a couple of museums, nice trail down to the Catawba River, a long house they can go in, a sweat lodge (operational) they can go in, story tellers, puppet shows. Some of the food served is Native American in origin roasted corn cooked on campfire, venison stew. It's a wonderful way to spend the day. They also have craft items, arrowheads, pottery for sale.
