Surfie Lingo
- wahine - girl, usually girl surfer, in Hawaiian
- the line up - surfers waiting in an area to catch the next decent wave
- jettin' - rippin'
- gun - a short board with a pointy nose harder to ride but more maneuverable than a long board
- break - areas where waves consistently curl over and break
- rights,lefts - waves that break in one direction or another
- bruddah - friend, amigo, as in "bruddah wahine"
- kook - surfer wannabe, non - surfie.

Surfin' Tips
- start with a long board and move to a shorter board as you get the hang of it.
- don't crawl up, hop up into your stance.
- when padding out keep the board pointed into through the waves.
- use a leash to keep your board from hurting others
