Russian Netted Necklace This necklace is hand woven using a Ukrainian 'gerdany' technique. This is a traditional netting stitch where each motif is worked top to bottom and then back again for the length of the necklace. The concept for the stitching is uncomplicated, but it requires uniform tension.
The necklace is 3/4" wide; the length is your choice. The bugle and seed beads are silver-lined Japanese Matsuno glass in cobalt, emerald, and crystal. The closure is a handcrafted sterling silver 'S' hook and eye. As always, I've reinforced the stitching, so the necklace is strong and flexible, with a substantial 'hand' in keeping with the fine fabric nature of the work. The necklace comes shipped in a foil jewelry box. The actual necklace is larger than the photograph. Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in other colors or variations on the pattern.
