Shawn Waverly
-Shockwave-
"People often say their life sucks until they meet someone who's had it worse. The problem is, I have yet to find that person who makes mine seem all the better."
Your Name/Penname: Cory
Your e-mail: sithlordcd@juno.com
Name: Shawn Waverly (alias), given name unknown
Code Name: Shockwave
Nick Name (optional): Wave
Gender: Male
Age: unknown, between 15 and 18
Appearance: At the time of his joining of the X-Men, Shawn had small
spiked black hair, soft hazel eyes and rather attractive features
He only owned 2 outfits- a pair of ripped jeans and a mismatched polo
shirt for one, meticulous black khakis and a black t-shirt with the words "Don't Annoy
the Crazy Person" on it for the other. He wears the same beat up black boots with each
outfit. He also is fond of his gray wool topcoat and black sunglasses. He's about 6 ft 2 in, lean tapered build.
Personality: Somewhat niave, very detached (he doesn't really trust people just yet), and
cryptic. (This does not mean Goth, though he is. By cryptic I mean he gives many single word,
often very vague and/or creepy answers to questions directed at him.) While he doesn't mind
hanging out in a group if invited, he never says anything unless spoken to or the topic is
heated. But to those who earn his trust, he is diehard loyal and will never hesitate to
converse with or aid one of his friends.
Affiliation: X-Men, though loosely (they don't trust him, he doesn't trust them)
Hobbies: Reading, writing, drawing. He likes to listen to music (provided
somebody else brings the player and is willing to operate it for him), and his tastes
vary, but his favorite bands at the moment are Reveille, Korn, Jimmy Eat World, Symphony X,
Linkin Park and The Ataris.
Powers: Shockwave generates a gravity field internally. This field grants
him several powers, but has it's drawbacks. Powers come first, then the drawbacks for each.
He can only utilize one power at a time.
-Limited 'telekinesis': This power can lift heavy objects (up to 1000
pounds), but lacks manipulation. Toss, pull towards, deflect away, that's it. Ranged
-Density Increase: Drawing up his entire field, Shockwave hardens his
body. Provides defense against physical attacks, greater strength and knockback resistance, but
his movement is slowed greatly.
-Limited levitation: 2 feet off the ground, no movement.
-Force Field: Can block any energy attack, but can only be maintained for
a few seconds and greatly exhausts him.
-Demi: A gravity bomb. Causes damage. Can only be used when he's
berserking (and thus out of control). Ranged
Ranged powers can only be used when Shockwave is letting his gravity
field stay out, and only affect an area equal to it. His range now is 10 feet in any
direction.
General Drawbacks: These are the problems with his powers as a whole and
for him just being him.
-Electronic Interference: Shockwave's gravity field does not mix with
circuit boards or power lines. When he walks into a room, lights flicker and if he tries to use
any electronic appliance (like TV, VCR, CD Player), they short out. If his field is
drawn in totally, this drawback is ignored, but that leads to other problems.
-Telepathy: Shockwave has an intense fear of telepaths. If a telepath
ever reads his mind or probes it, he blacks out and enters berserk mode. (This is a result of
continued mental abuse by a mutant in service of the organization that abducted him as a
boy.) He can never truly trust any telepath, but he can gain respect for them if they prove
trustworthy.
-Berserk Mode: He loses all control of his powers and begins to lash out
at anyone in range. You need to either beat him up or have a close friend
try to calm him
down. If he screams at any time, "Get out of my head!", you know he's about
to go under.
-Hunted: The group that abducted him as a child wants him back badly. They will go to no ends
to retrieve him. (He never EVER speaks of this, so don't ask.)
-Weight: Despite his slim exterior, Shockwave weighs over 700 pounds.
When his field is drawn in, he weighs about 1200 pounds. You would too if you had a black
hole in your chest. If he uses his field to repel himself off the ground or reinforce
whatever he's sitting on, this tends not to be a problem.
Family: Shockwave believes his family is dead, but he can't be sure. What
he does know is that both his parents were mutants. He often refers to his 'brothers and
sister'. These people are not biological siblings, but the three other mutants he grew up with
and that also escaped with him from the lab where he spent most of his
life (names: Corona, Shadowknight and Blowtorch).
Other: Shockwave doesn't know his birthday. He doesn't know his family.
He doesn't even know his own name. He's on the run, being pursued by agents
of a secret organization who wish to use him and people like him to achieve their ends. But
Shockwave is tired of running. He's making a stand, here and now--and to those who seek to use or abuse
him, it's time to put up or shut up.
