About the "Fanfiction is Fiction" webring

"Fanfiction is Fiction" is a webring that came about after I got fed up with all the crap in the Gundam Wing fandom. People are getting stalked, literaly, for having their own opinions. People are getting hurt. People are leaving the fandom because of these things and more. I sat back and wondered "Why? We all love the same anime. Why can't we all just get along? Live and let live. An' it harm none, do what ye will. Simple, right?" Apparently not.

Anyway, I also noticed that the majority of fiction out there favors certain pairings, and newbies coming into the fandom read these fics and take everything they have in them as true. I know I was devastated when I learned that Heero and Duo weren't truly a couple. The mission of "Fanfiction is Fiction" is to let incoming fans know that what they're reading, those yummy lemons of Heero boinking Trowa all night and Wufei and Relena eloping and such, aren't real. It's fanfiction, which means fans wrote it and no matter how much we'd like for it to be real, it isn't.

"Fanfiction is Fiction" is not telling people that the characters/pairings they love are wrong simply because they never appear in the show. No, "Fanfiction is Fiction" is reminding people that it's all fiction and needs to be treated as such. This means no flaming. This means not reading a fic if you don't like the pairing. This means keeping an open mind and an open heart. Please, you may not agree with everything out there in the GW, or any fandom, but support this cause. No site will be turned down that truly wants to stop the pain and politics.
